Backspacing

i know this is a newbie question but i need some help. but i am putting new tires and wheels on my 01 4Runner. they are the american racing assult's- 17x8, and firestone destination m/t. what i need to know is what the deminsions should be on the tires and what should the backspacing be so that the wheels can turn and have good clearance

i think most ppl will tell you 4in...i would go with 3.75...but..thats just me...the smaller the backspacing the more your tires will stick out...the bigger the number...the less..i think with your 4runner u will want 32x11.50 or 33x10.50...or maybe just 31's...but about 3.75 to 4in should be the number you want..maybe someone who actually KNOWS will chime in

thanks alot. also there may be a 3in. lift in the near future...would that effect it much
