Auto to a 5 speed / 2nd generation

Before it starts - I did search and came up with nothing !

Now - I am considering changing my 4 runner to a 5 speed from the current automatic. Anybody done this ? Will I have to change the computer ?

I can handle the mechanic's involved just wondering about the computer.
Looks like the pedal assembly would be pretty straight forward as well.

Is the cross-member different ?

I am almost done with my 3.0 Auto to 3.0 5Spd swap...

I had to buy a new rear driveshaft because the one from my Auto was a couple of inches too short so I bought a used one from a guy parting a older 5Spd.

I used a new computer but cant speak about the necessity of doing so because I didn't even try to do it with the one from my auto.

Had to modify the hole for the shift levers a little bit because it was a different pattern than the one from the 5spd. Also had to drill a hole through the firewall to accomodate for the clutch master cylinder. Few other minor things but nothing you cant figure out if you just take your time...

Any other questions... feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer!

You can see from my sig I have a 89 and I used a tranny from a 92...

You can use an Auto ECU, you just have to sort some wires. I'll try and find the wire colors for you.

I'm doing this swap in a couple of weeks and will have all the information needed then.
