ARB Airline Size and other ???

I've finally taken the plunge. Everything is ordered. Replacement Front and Rear Diffs, 5.29 gearsets with master overhaul kits, and (2) ARB lockers. They are getting set up by Whaley Enterprises (thanks Shazad) and I hope to have them installed within the next two weeks.

I have an Extremeaire compressor and a Viair tank that still need to be mounted and all the other stuff that goes along with that.

Has anyone run hardline from the compressor to the airtank and out to points on the chassis (switching over to plastic or braided to go to the diffs)? Alot of the wheeling here in the NE is overgrown brush that has a tendency to jump up and grab stuff under the rig.

So, my question about airline size...

What is used generally to:
- Go from the Compressor to the Tank
- Go to the Diffs?
- Go to couplers? (for adding a hose for airing up)

Also - Anyone with a 2nd Gen. Where have you mounted your airtank?

If you have a BL, you can just zip ties the line to the top of the frame rails and run them up and down with no problems.

Mine are against the firewall with the brakelines and on the frame because of the BL.

I would consider sticking a tank above the spare tire winch in the rear like where Schaefer has his fancy tire carrier. Not sure about hard line, but I would consider running a heavy grade rubber hose and mount it smartly.

I got your last PM and I agree.

The blue line is 5mm

My compressor fittings are 1/4 NPT for the chuck and 1/8 for the elbow so you can tip the solenoids up side down.

Just thought of this again, hence the new post.

dont forget, that silly blue line is metric while all of the brass fittings your local hardware stores are in SAE!!!!!!!!

try to look for them but always end up getting them from ARB for like $1 each!!!!! where as the hardware store sells them for like 3-4 for like $.50... GRRRRRRRRR

buy spares cause you WILL HAVE PROBLEMS. blue lines will get old.

leave enough slack for axle droop.

know how to replace at the housing, the brass.

there are 3 pieces to the hose: the hose support (piece that goes INSIDE the hose), the compression ferrule and the compression nut.

the ferrule aint reusable. you can try to reuse it but expect leaks. i cracked 1 compression nut. that was a weird one.

Cebby,
What are you doing with your 4.88 gears? I really want to move up to 33s when my 32s wear out (soon) but I really can't do that without changing out my 4.56s at the same time.

Not only are they metric, but they are British metric, which is even harder to find. Definetely get spares !! Whaley should stock them.

Bryan is done with my diffs. I have someone picking them up next Wednesday (he's about a 4 hour drive from me).

He has been very accommodating for this. I had the front diff taken to him by a buddy from Pittsburgh, the rear diff dropped off by Toyota Parts Dude from Elizabethtown, the gears and master install kit shipped direct from Randy's and the ARB lockers shipped direct from Performance Off Road Center.

Not that I think I'll need it, but Bryan said he will stand behind his work if I ever have an issue. That is definitely comforting to know!!!

DMG (who I met from POR and also supplier of the front diff) and I will be installing these in a few weeks. I need to get the compressor mounted, air tank mounted and the lines run prior to that.

UPDATE: My "courier" F-I-N-A-L-L-Y picked up by diffs from Otter. I will have them Saturday. I guess I need to get off my butt and install the compressor, tank, switches and lines.
