96 elocker into 93 4runner

Hey everyone, I know this has prob been beaten to death and I did search around for about 20 minutes but couldn't find a direct answer, Im hoping to get a quick definite answer as this purchase is pending.

I have a 93 4runner with the gear code on the door tag G254, which is the 8" 4.56 if I'm right. Im about to buy a elocker that was removed from a 96 4runner with the axle code A03A which he told me was the 4.10 8" also.

My question is if i purchase the 3rd member to retrofit, will my stock 4.56 ring and pinion work on the newer elocker 3rd both being the 8"? or do i need to buy new? also what to look for? Thanks!

Elocker uses different bearings. R&P should work.

Don't forget the front.

You just swapped carriers though correct? You still have the original axle but a newer locker?

That is correct, just had to notch out the original axle housing and thread in a couple new studs. Sorry I didn't take pics but I'm sure you can find some if you do a little search

I am about to do this same swap over...only my truck has 4:10's and the gear code for the 96 is A04A which I believe is 4:30. Does anyone know if the front third is a direct swap? Is there a big enough difference in the gears to bother with removing the front to regear it, or just regear the locker to 4:10? If I regear, will the 4:30 R&P work on my carrier?
