94 2wd pickup lift

so i'm looking to lift my 2wd pickup in the near future. i don't plan on doing anything extreme, just some mild lift and some functionality so i can have some fun and give my rig some character.

ok so... i've looked around and so far i'm thinking about doing the following setup:

downey torsions (to crank in some lift without being radically preloaded)
downey upper arms (to correct the camber angle)
dual front shocks (billies?)
30x9.50 tires (at most)

as for the rear, i will probably start off with some extended shackles and go from there.

how much lift can i expect to get with the downey torsion bars/upper arms? will i even be able to fit 30's without a body lift? i would like to avoid doing a body lift, but if it came to it i would only consider a 1" body lift.

anybody have any experience with downey lift kits for 2wd pickups? if i'm missing something, let me know. thanks alot!

i can get you a set of ball joint spacers for $100+shipping. they will lift 1.5''. i had machinist make them for me and he is willing to make more sets. they are just like the SDORI ones but he has been out of stock of the 2wd ones for awhile and the price is gone up to $160 a set. here is 2 pictures of the ones he made for my truck. first one is them not done yet, they still needed finishing and smoothing. the second one is them complete with the next set started on the aluninum block.

bump. anybody have any experience with these downey lifts?

those balljoint spacers look interesting, although i don't think it's much better than a spindle lift. but who knows. i might consider it. thanks for the info.

Hey, If your still looking for some info I have a 92 2wd that i just lift. I used teh downey torsion bars, fabtech upper control arms, 3" body lift, and downey rear 2" leaft springs. This stuff works well together and you will have trouble clearing a 30" tire with no body lift. I'm running 31's right now and they don't rub at all. I have the torsion bars cranked slightly. All these components are great together and the only reason I didn't purchase downey upper control arms was that when I ordered them it was like a month wait for them to make the special graphite bushings for them or something so I just got the fabtech a-arms. Quality is great and pretty decent in price compared to downey's. Just my .02 cents. let me know if you have any questions.

how much did you pay for that setup?

do you think it is possible to fit 30's or 31's with only 1-2 inches of body lift and the downey torsions cranked up?

for the rear, i'm hoping i can get enough lift with an extended shackle or adding or removing leafs to raise the spring rate. i want the front to be a little higher than the rear.

i'm probably going to re-gear the ring and pinion in the 3rd member to compensate for the larger tires. maybe some brake upgrades in the future as well.

Hey, here's what everything cost
downey torsion bars-$158
downey 3" lift springs-$200
Fabtech control arms-$250
body lift-$100

If i was you I wouldn't totally crank the torsion bars cause your ride will suck and you will hate it so got with suspension or body lift to get the lift you need and just slightly crank the torsion bars. any other questions let me know.
