Did you do anything with your torshion bars?

I wanted to go with a 3" body lift but from what I understand I will need to do some modifications with brake lines, wires, clutch, etc. However, if I do a 2" body lift none of these mods are requiered and I can just put it in and go. Is this correct?

With doing your ball joint spacers, how big did you go with? Will you be doing anything with your idler arm?

On a side note: I called around today and can get 4 alum. wheels off like a 98 jeep for $25 each. Idn, i'm in no real big hury so im going to see if I can stumble upon some at some upcoming swap meets that someone wants to get rid of cheap.
To be completely honest, I'm not fully educated on truck suspensions yet. I just speak out of experience. When i put the 3.5" lift on the front, I had to extend my brake lines. I'm not too sure about any wiring or clutch issues you may have, because you're doing a BL, and i did a suspension lift, so I couldn't give you a for sure answer. All i can say is that I didn't have any issues with any wires or transmission after installing the lift.

I too am on a low budget, so i haven't done anything to the torsion bars or idler arms yet. My truck isn't going to be bashed on in the desert any time soon, so I'm not too worried about the torsion bars yet... I'm just in a desperate need of new tires, so I'm just getting some cheap lift in for now, so i can run 31"s, instead of saving up for a $3000 total chaos long travel set-up and trying to live with the tires I have now for a much longer time...

The BJ spacers i got give a 1 1/2" lift. If you're interested in them, I got mine off 4crawler.com for around $150 for the pair. I'll let you know how they are after I put them on, i can't imagine them having a huge impact at all on the ride.

$25 a rim isn't bad at all if they're in good condition. You can get a little lower than that, but not much. I just checked craigslist and about $60 is the lowest i can find that are in decent condition.

Thanks for the info and not steering me in the wrong direction. Their is a swap meet coming up so im going to see if I can find some wheel their. As for the body lift, can anyone here let me know about the diff. btween a 2" and 3" BL? As far as wires, lines, clutch, or anything that may have be modified between the 2 diff sized lifts. Thanks

Did you get your BJ spacer in yet? If so how do you like them and how much lift did you get with them? Did you adjust your torsion bars any with them installed?

Sorry about the wait. I didn't have a chance the past couple of days to run to the post office to pick up the spacers so they sent them back to 4crawler on Wed. Putting in the spacers was probably the easiest mod i've done to my truck yet.

I got about 1.5" of lift with them. The ride quality didn't suffer at all. Still is a great ride. Now i just gotta deal with the rubbing that the 31"s cause

Before

After

I got about 5" of lift in the front and rear. 3.5" Fabtech lift spindles and 1.5" 4 Crawler ball joint spacers in the front and 3" Downey leaf springs and 2" Fabtech extended shackles in the rear.

Hopefully you got some ideas out of my project so far.

I actually bought the spindles off someone on here not too long ago. I was told that Fabtech discontinued that kit, so I got lucky. He said the spindles were $300 new. I just checked online to see if there was anything like the ones i got but all i found was people looking for them too...

I just checked on the first page of this thread, Five1Nine8Eight found this site with lift spindles for 89-95 pickups.

http://obsessedmotorsports.com/toyot...d_spindle.html

If you're interested you should look into those ^^

yeah, i found the OMS spindles a few months back on www.dezertrangers.com. im just debating about if i want to go with anymore lift or not. if i go higher i will want bigger tires but i will kill my mileage and any power that i have. without regearing, thats just a dumb move for me right now.

i was just curious where you had found the fabtechs because they are hard to come by. but from everything i have read and heard, be sure to check those things out every few weeks or so to make sure they are not developing stress cracks around the balljoint mount. see this tread http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/show...oyota+spindles

So I went to a swap meet on Saturday and got a set of steel JEEP wheels off a 94 for $40. I went to put them on today and the off-set is wrong They JUST rub on the upper ball joint enough to still spin but rub.

I have some after market wheels on their now that are 14" by 8" wide They came on the truck. They say on the wheel that they have a 1mm off-set. I have 1.5" of clearance on the back side at top by the upper ball joint.

Okay so I put on some 3/8 alum spacers on them and I only have like 5-6 threads for my lug nuts to grab. So i'm going to have to get some smaller spacers but hey, at least I got the wheels I need. They bolt right up!

I got the wheels on today with my spacers up front. They look good.I will post pics as soon as I take some of it.

Q: I can get some 1.5" ball joint spacers for my truck (price un-known, they are used) but the guy says...

"They will fit 1986-1995 4WD IFS 4runners and pickups and
T100s. (Also works in 2WD 4runners and T100s) "

Will these work on my 89 2wd IFS?

Nope, the 2WD ball joints (and spacers) are different:

I could get these from this guy for around $50-$75. Do you think I could machine the 4wd spacer to match the 2wd spacer? I have a friend that works in a machine shop/pattern making and does awesome work. Is the bolt hole spacing the same?

Doubtful they could be modified, the hole spacing comparison is on the web page posted above.
