83 yota problem
Ok guy's I am very new to this that is why I am here I have a 83 toyota 4x4 pickup. It came with I asume leafs over axles and 3 inch block's in the back with was a nice lift for the truck but I was looking to lift it some more because of my cuz and his yota with a 4 inch lift and 3inch body lift he said I could use shackles and be fine well. I just had surgery and he puts on shakles front and back and lifted it another 3 inchs looks great but my front drive shaft is almost pulled all the way out it only has about 2 inches inserted in. So I am trying to figure out how to keep the lift in the front but allow my drive shaft to slip up in the shaft some more hope you guys can steer me in the right direction. I am not to sure about these front shackles they are ajustable and can be let down 2 notches. I am affraid when I go riding when I get better I will be somewhere flexing the front and the front drive shaft hope out and tear some stuff up sorry for such a long post thanks to whom can help and I will post pic's soon of the truck. Not only would the truck ride better without the shackles and blocks but it'll be way safer too. If you stop to fast or if while wheeling you bump something a bit hard the blocks can fall out. Off road this is a bummer and on road it could suck a lot more. For that year of truck you can get a pretty cheap lift from Rough country. Not exactly the best but way better then blocks. As for the Drive shaft I agree with camo, You can take it in and get it extended which would cost way less then ordering a longer.

Thanks guys I will see about getting the drive shaft lengthened blocks have been on the back of the truck for the last ten years with no problems so at this point I am not worried about them if they where aluminum blocks I might worry about them crushing but not just coming out from under the truck if they just come out they are not installed correctly or you have some very loose u-bolts. The kits I have been looking at just give you lifting springs and some shocks the springs I have are already lifted springs well thanks again for yuor help.

The less curve in the spring the nicer it rides usually, Looking back now I actually did not mind my 4" block lift at all when I had it, that setup seriously rode and flexed better than my current springs.. the axle wrap was bad though, I guess a traction bar would fix that. Now im running 4" Procomp lift springs, they seem to flex o.k. but road manners especially on gravel are horrible, the fronts seem o.k. but could be alot better compared to some trucks ive been in with nicer springs.
