I have just bought another truck. Planning to put 40s on and dual T-cases. The build direction is more towards snow. First build so doing all the research and my main question is about suspension. Post pics soon..

But... What would be the best gear setup 4.88 or lower with 40 or 42 tires? . Also will be doing dual t case setup. What should I mate to stock?

 

I would go with 5.29 for gears and 4.7 gears in the T-case. Inchworm has good adapters that I would reccommend.

With 40 inch tires your going to be breaking stuff, especially the steering components. Just FYI

How hard would it be to put in a tilt steering setup? This is no sr5. Also anyone have a preference or input on snow tires. I have toyo Mts on my DD and think they are good tires. But all the input for the build is greatly appreciated!

 

dont worry bout braking steering components. i run 38's on tg high steer. i reccomend 5.29's, stock gears in front case and 4.7 in the rear. that way you have the stock low range for reverse speeds (trust me, you'll regret not having stock low range reverse) and i cant stress enough on how much i reccomend long field 30 splines. in the snow your not as liable to break stuff like in rocks but stock birfs would never put up to 40's if your locked.

as far as tires iroks work great air'd down to bout 3 or 4 psi in the snow, might consider bead locks for the comfort factor of breaking a bead, but iv seen and done it with out. a basic tsl pattern is always a good choice, they'll never do you wrong. i run bald 38" tsl bias ( about 2mm tread depth after i grooved them) and go places buggys and extremely built jeeps go.

Well I've looked a lil but can I get 40s on a 15 in rim? And I meant how hard would it be to put in a tilt steering column. high steer on the list money permited- 5.29s thinking aussie locks f\r.. Ruf, chebbies or ifs rears with shackle upgrade. rear db conversion. Ifs rear axle, ifs hubs up front that's the major stuff

 

Okay here's a question. Which would I be better off with 22R or 22RE? I decided in 42 in tsl tires. And whichever motor I use I will be doing mild mods to also.
