Don't be in too much of a hurry so spend all that money.

Read what a very wise man has done to his suspension. Roger Brown Has gotten the most bang for his buck of anyone out there and every thing he has done to his '85 4Runner is very well documented on his website.

Do your reasearch. Read Toyota Suspension threads on Pirate and OutdoorWire. Read that link I posted. Learn, then spend wisley young grasshopper.

Shane good points. I had some of the same problems with AOR and other suppliers. AOR has some great products if you can ever get them on the phone.

BTW one of our club members has just opened up an OffRoad shop. It's called Offroad Xtremes. He's currently just getting suppliers together and will start online selling before he opens a land location in Milton, WA. He has his ALCAN distributorship going so if anyone needs Alcan springs let me know. We hope to have his website up and running in the next week or two but he's taking orders now. His email is offroadextremescs.com

I forgot that the 85 had the double U-joint construction. I have the CV joint up front on mine.

No one has mentioned Cross-over or High Steer yet that I have seen so I will.

If you get that much lift a drop drag link isnt to good of an idea anymore. Also to do this you will need a later model IFS steering box and need to sleave the frame and box it on both sides so you dont develops cracks.

How hard do you plan on wheelin?

For suspension there are many many options.

Mazda's springs in the rear combine two sets for each side. They are longer and you will need to relocate the front mount. Cheap.

Chevy's in the rear they are a lot longer you will need to move both the front and rear mount. Cheap.

Both are safe for a daily driver.

In the front you can take the rears and move them to the front with adding some other leaves. Cheap.

Wagoners 6 leaf pack in the front. Cheap.

All-pro fronts. Cost ya a little more.

If you go with a lower cost lift you can afford the tires and gears sooner. While you build you wont have the perfect combination of anything but stay with it and soon you will.

Iv got a 85 too

Im 16 also and I also have a 85runner . Currently its got a 2in rancho lift and 31s. Ive been researching every thing their is to research about this thing ever since I even thought about buying it, Threw all my reading I have decided on what Im going to do (in order). 1st of all I have found power to be a major concern for me so I am diging into the motor w/ some simple and easy bolt ons 1st.

Downey cold air intake , downey header , 2.25 exaust w/ flowmaster
ARB in the rear and 4.88 gears (front and rear)
Chevy rears w/ extended shackels
rears up front or 44044s
33in buckshot mudders (unless I can find some good used 35s)

that pretty much sums it up . Some where in between there I will build some sliders for it and maybe front and rear bumpers
Also Ive heard nothing but bad things about NWOR springs , Allpro makes exellent equipment but it will take a couple of months to get what you ordered .
We will have to stay in touch . C YA

I've got two good sets of 35s but getting them to billing MT would be expensive unless you knew someone making the trip.
