ARB would be the way to go, but I think alot of people dont have that kind of money to spend on a locker.

800$ locker... 4-500 for front gears (might as well regear while your in there) plus the 500 for rear if you are going to regear. Then another 2-400 for gear setup.

I've had a lockright in the rear of mine for almost a year and a half now without any problems. I have wheeled it fairly hard but don't think I have really flogged it yet. I have noticed that the clunking and popping that many complain about with lunchboxes is now worse. When I was on 31's it was rare, maybe once a month. Now, it's at least once a week if not every day. I'm still OK with it though. I will echo what some others have said though that I would be hesitant with a non-selectable in the front axle application for a few reasons, but hey, we all make our own choices for our own reasons. I cut a couple of corners on my build as well and so far so good.

I would consider talking to Mike. (MSR in post #2) I have never heard of the Spartan but he does this stuff for a living and ought to know. Bigger pins sound like a good idea to me. When something "goes" in a lunchbox, that is usually where it starts.

$750-850 per locker and something to activate them with such as an ARB compressor ($120-220) or a CO2 tank or other compressor you might have and can cobble together. If you're happy with your gears and the re-gears are relatively recent and properly done then the bearings should be good and you could likely get by with a mini rebuild kit ($60-90 per diff)

Toyota 8" 4cyl diffs with Aussies F&R on 39.5" Iroks. So far, they've held up to 3.5 years of wheeling. CUbuff4Runner runs an Aussie in his front D44 on 36's and a 3.4 with a crawler.

I've run Genuine Gear Quick Locks in the front of my Toyota w/37 boggers for about 9 years now w/o any problems. Of course I drive with less skinny pedal, and more gears than most.

My buddy used lockrites F/R on his 82 Toyota w/22 R and 36's w/o any problems...when he went to 39.5's and a Chevy 350 the carrier expoded. This was mainly his daily driver, and he didnt use the skinny pedal much like me.

I've used lockrite's on a Ford Ranger with an 7.5 and 35's and destroyed the entire carrier. I don't blame the locker due to the 7.5 being a very weak axle anyway.

i was most likely gonna go aussie in the front...im not looking to spend big bucks and dont want a full carrier locker in the front. But anyways i called the guy from aussie and he explained to me that there lockers will take up to 40inch tires of abuse and do not have one of those "limited to over 33inch tires nonsence"

yes im doing 488s in her...the truck as of now has 470s in the rear with the 3.0...i mean its not bad but it can deff be way better but i plan on doing a 3.4swap with a sc so i think 488s will suit me fine IMO but i have a detroit trutrac in the back right now and to be honest im not really impressed with it...especially with the 35s on it...is doesnt really hold posi in the woods so i was just gonna save and buy a detroit locker but while im at 500 dollars baby i should save a extra 300 dollars and get an arb....but then i think about all the extra stuff like the air compressor i gotta get and then run the lines and do all the stuff...i just dont feel like dealing with the extra hassle...plus im doing this myself and i dont wanna screw it up or anything haha. o and i forgot to mention i know how to set up gears so ill have that covered
