33" xterrains on a 2wd?

i have a '93 2wd p/u with a 3.5" fabtech lift and a bodylift (not sure how much) id guess 2-3". anyways im currently running 31" BFG AT's cause thats what i bought it with cause they were brand new on the truck but i want to go bigger when these wear out. do you think i can run 33s? preferably xterrains? or should i just stick with 31s when these ones wear out?

Hey Team510 , I don't know the answer to you question but a 33'' tire seams like a lot for a 2wd . BTW welcome to the forum . Do you have PL510 I have a 72 2dr with a vg30

depends on how wide the tire is and your rim offset/width... i have 31x10.5s on my 85 4x2, woth a 4" spindle and a 3" bodylift.. they fit fine.. i am going to go up to 33s, however, i need t oget the 33x10.5 that bfg has otherwise i will have to get differnt rimsand do a lot of trimming

IIRC, all pro comp tires run a little smaller than the rest...

You also might have a problem with power. I have a 4 banger 99' taco runnin 33x12.50s and im right at the power limit i would think. I can barely do 70+ on the highway. If you are 4cylinder i think the gearing is different for 2wd and won't be as powerful, also that years 4 bangers are weaker than todays tacoma (2.4 - 2.7)

2wd trucks are cheap to regear, as most were geared really high from the factory. typical ratios for 2wd are 3.08, 3.42, 3.54(or 3.58), and 3.73. if you've got an 8" rear diff(most 4 speeds, 1 tons and v6/turbo trucks had them) regearing is as cheap as finding somebody who's got a 4.10, 4.30, 4.38, 4.56 or 4.88 third laying around. 7.5 is a little trickier though, since i don't think the third member from a 4x4 front will bolt right in to a 7.5 rear housing. could be wrong though
