3.slow cam questions

i got a 94 yota pu with the 3.slow in it and i just re-done the head gasket in it and now my timing is way off. i pulled my timing belt cover off and my cam pulleys aint lined up with each other. the arrow on one of them is pointing like 3 oclock and the arrow on the other cam is pointing at like 8 oclock. i know that i got to pull my distributor back out and turn my crank to number one top dead center, but whne i turn my cams, which way do i want the arrows to face? im trying to do this without pulling the intake and all off to get to the valve covers to see the cams. if i can find out which way the arrows will face for top dead center number one, then i wont have to do all of that. any help would be aweome. thanks alot, bubba macks.

I did this once and im a little hazy on it but I beleive you want the both cams at 12 o'clock, and the crank at top dead center on number one. I think all I did was put my crank at 0* timing and hoped I wasnt 180* out of phase (its not an interferance motor so no worries)

You want the cam arrow facing 6 o'clock, and the crank facing twleve o'clock. I did one not long ago and fixing to do another one. Make sure the number 1 pistion is top dead center, and when you put the distribater in make sure the rotor button is on number 1 wire. Hope this helps.
