22r head cam problems

I blew the head gasket in my 82 toyota with 22r and ordered a refinished head with no cam I took mine out of my head to put in the new head and the cam was too big for the journals it hangs up and won't drop the last 8th of an inch because it is bigger. Are there different cam sizes or did someone who owned this truck in the past bore mine out and put a bigger cam in there? the heads are dang near identical besides one or two numbers from different years. I am confused but I am going down to the parts store tonight to see if they can mic it and order me the right one and if not go get it bored out at a machine shop and use the old one. These are my ideas anybody got any info?

I dont know any differences in cam sizes? Maybe the head is off a different year motor?

good point gnarls, forgot about the head being warped enough to make the the cam sit down enough in the journals. its more likely that the head is warped, than the cam being not straight..
