You sir need to do some reading. Google is your best friend.
Independant suspension axles? Whatever you want to call them? With a project like this you need much more specific lingo if you want people to help you and not tear you apart. Do you just want to use the axles? do you want to use the entire IRS system? IFS? what years of subaru stuff do you have access to? As mentioned above, is there any aftermarket support for this suspension? How much torque can that system handle?
Heck, lets start big picture. What is your goal for this vehicle? What do you want out of it. Obviously not high power, and if you're thinking 2wd you clearly don't want a mud truck of crawler.
Parts list so far:
22r
w56
r1fa
subaru suspension (unknown year, model, mods)
volkswagon beetle body. (unknown year, model ect)
So you've asked us for advice on "this kind of build" I don't even know what kind of build it is. Do you?

Why subaru? Whey independent suspension? Whey not just flip around a IFS frame....? Whats this going to be for? Jumping? General off road, dune buggy type stuff? Deciding on rwd vs 4wd is a big decision. You need alot more planning on what parts you want before yo make a thread like this. Not sure a toyota motor will fit into a vdubb pan.
Im all for a cool one off type of vehicle, but I think your missing to many of the big parts of the plans.

Get some idea of what you want.
Read read and read some more.
What is your end result?
What are you wanting this thing to do??
Do you have the skills and tools a good place to work
More important a real budget to do this a one of a kind build is very expensive..
You have a engine a transmission and case. Now you need to do something with them??

ok so i just finished rebuilding the enigne its an 81 22r doughnut pistons and round exhaust ports. i polished the ports, lce torquer cam, and lce valves stock carb. so maybe 120-130hp? thinking about doing a side draft carb setup.... and yes the whole subaru IRS. gona see if i can mod it for more travel.. possible subi IFS... i can get them at the pick-n-pull here in san antonio. im gona build a frame out of 1 3/4" HREW tubing. and itll be a general off-road vehicle nothing crazy... and yes i have a shop tools (no welder yet :p ) and skills.
sorry should have been a lil more specific i just threw the post together one night... kind a made myself sound like a no experiance noob
