ok guys i have a 79" parts truck with a 20r thats going into an 86" 4x4 well it ran alright wile it was in the 79 except for some bad gas well i got it all in and hooked up well its runing lean it wont idle without the choke..not enough gas? i have an electric fuel pump..im overhauling the carb tomarrow cuz it just needs it but is their anything els that i can try? thanks

 

thats your problem the electic fuel pump when we put a 20r we left the manuel pump on the motor....we pulled the efi fuse 2 shut off the pump then just hooked the existing lines to the manuel pump.....
i could be wrong im not the wisest one here but thats what worked for us...

 

I think 86toysr5 is right.. hook the mechanical pump back up.

 

well see thats the thing it had one to begin with i didint put the block off plate on it.. sooo it ran b4 with the electric fuel pump i even swapped fuel pumps and nothing.. thanks for your help

 

a little update if anyone is lookin at this i got my carb rebuilt runs alot better but still wont run without the choke im gonna tune the carb as much as i can but im no expert so we will see

 

ok i fixed it dumbness on my part some vac lines were backwards and i got a tuneup runs like a bat outta hell now!!! now for stopping it...
