2 in 4crawler question
i am in the middle of installing a 2 inch bodylift from roger brown. my shifter wont even go into 2nd, 4th, or REV. so i know i gotta mess with the shift boots but how to i cut them to make this work or do i just remove one of them or what? and second is it easier to just cut the fan shroud at the bottom or make brackets to lower the entire raditor unit. if i cut the shroud how much do i cut off b/c it's my daily driver and i drive on the highway alot to got back and forth to school so i can't afford to over heat. Please help me by tomorrow b/c that's when i got to get this thing done.
thanks,
alan
PS: roger brown: the washer that are supposed to go between the screw and the body won't fit in the little holes that the original washer and screw came out of. why is that?
thanks,
alan

went to the websit and pretty much figured out my shifter problem with the 9000 options listed there but with the rad. i don't have time to order the brackets b/c i need my truck to go back to school and the thing about removing the lower part of the shroud is a no go b/c i already unknowingly removed that part from the shroud and it's still hitting the fan. i think that only works for 1 inch bl. so for a 2 inch how much of the shroud do i cut off. a picture of this would be nice b/c i know i need to just cut til if fits but is there a better way to make it atleast still kinda circulate air?
thanks for the quick responses guys.

ok well i got it all on and all complete and everything is working fine except i haven't drivin it enough to tell if it will over heat and got a big gap between my rear bumper and tail gate b/c i don't have new brackets and don't really care to mess with it b/c i'll build a new rear bumper for it soon enough. but just wanted to say thanks for all the help.
and now my 4runner is around 6.5 inches bigger (not including larger tire height) than when good ole pops owned it and bought it in 1988.
the best thing about owning a truck you grew up in is finding old toys or pieces of toys that you remember having when you were really little on those long car trips. haha
thanks again,

On the shifter problem, that is covered with several options:
As noted, difficulty in reaching those gears (to the back of the shift pattern) can easily be solved by moving the shifter boot *back* a little bit by redrilling new holes in the boot base.

On the radiator, you can always order a set of drop brackets, most folks are fine at 2" w/o them, but depending on your engine/fan/radiator alignment, you might not be able to clear the fan. That's why I recommend you look down and see if you can see a gap between your fan and shroud. If not this means your fan is inside the shroud and you'll likely have to lower the radiator:

On my 22RE, I can't, but that is because I added a thicker-than-stock radiator. One option you can do is to temporarily remove the fan shroud. Or you can make your own drop brackets. My first set was simply two lengths of 1" wide aluminum flat bar from the hardware store. I drilled a few holes to attch the bar to the radiator flange, I used pop-rivets, but sheet metal screws would work as well. Then just measure up 2" from the existing holes and drill 4 new holes and mount the radiator back in place with the new holes.
