I bought a hot shot for mine. It should do the trick. I have the same problem. We've replaced the battery, the starter, the driver, the valve stem caps, the washer fluid, and nothing works. I think Roger is right, it's in the wiring. the hotshot should do it I'll post when I put it on. I've already had it for a month without installing it. I need some time. Anyway, it's not just your rig.

Roger explained it on his linke earlier. It is made by painless wiring. It is a simple relay that you splice into your wiring. Instead of your ignition providing alittle current to crank your starter, that amount of current is used to open a relay wich sends full power from the battery o your starter. I guess it was designed for the crummy GM starters, but it helps our crummmy yota starters too.

You would find that information on the web page I posted several times. In short, Painless Wiring Hot Shot starter relay kit:

How was the wiring checked?

Oh, ok, I read that. I just didn't realize what it was called. The wiring was checked by a mechanic.....so, however a mechanic checks the wiring with a point that lights up and a volt meter?......

Mechanics aren't always as accurate as electircinas. Most of my mechanics send me to an electric shop after toying with the stuff for a couple of hours.

Traded the non-running '89 and cash to a guy for his running/heavily modded '85. I'll let you know if/when he figures out what the problem is.
