Bought my 95 SR5 in early 2007. 229k now. Hit two whitetail that fall and still have a primer black fender and bumper to keep it classy. Exhaust rusted out, replaced with Magnaflow cat and Gibson stainless cat-back. Shocks are Rancho 9000s (have a compressor and controller but haven't installed it), really like them by the way. Only major mechanical repair was replacement of rear 3rd member. Side bearings went when I flooded the axle housing. The outer wheel bearings were bad and let the water in, not the breather. Trans cooler. Just shoe horned some 265/75/16s under it, maybe I'll give them some more room in a while. Any downside to cranking up the torsion bars a little?

Crankin the torsions will ride stiffer and top out quicker but will give u about 1-1.5" lift. Best cheap mod is balljoint spacers from " sdori" they are well worth it !!

How many miles can I get out of a 1996 T100 ?

Helloo T100 people, I'm here !
Greetings from the Great State of Oregon..

I need an Opinion; How many miles can I get out of a '96 T100 4x4, currently 180 K on it, one owner, mostly 4 wheeling in the snow and ice, and taken good care of ?
I rebuilt the starter (contacts !) and had the regular things break...what is next? Hoses? I think 270 k is not unreasonable.
My wife is doubtful- Wants a new little 2x4 truck.. blah, yuck.

Give me info-ammo to blunt her attack on manly trucks.
I wonder if this attitude could have something to do with her scraping her knuckles while helping me change out the starter...

Thanks, Mike

got a 93 T100, 5 spd 4x4. its got a few modifications, mainly cosmetic. Custom paint (done a while back) mickey thompson 31s, 2" block on the rear and no lift on the front. Rollbar and custom tire mount in back and aftermarket rear bumper, 2 12s in a custom box with a 1400 watt amp behind the seat makes it pretty cramped. Jensen DVD player, cold air intake and custom sidepipe, blue LED interior lights and a CB. Jasper engine with 11k miles on it

Future plans are BJ spacers and a 2 or 3" body lift, an aftermarket front bumper (any suggestions?) Offroad lights and bigger tires. Any suggestions for more performance mods for that little 3.0? If im getting 13 MPG it might as well feel worth it...

More pics coming! i got little snow tires on it right now, kind of embarassing :/

almost stock red 97 T-100 extra cab- added battery separator under hood to deep cycle mounted in bed; hard-wired 3 12-volt plug-ins in cab, 2 in right hand side box of commercial shell, plus 750 watt inverter in side box.

I don't think 270's unreasonable either. I'm at 240-soemthing and I think it's got another 100k left in it. I've seen a few with 300+ that run great too.

Rnimmer-
Condolences...What happened ? Short of major engine failure or crash, it should keep going for another 30 or 40k. Did everything just go at once ? What the heck ?
My 96 T has 184k on it and shows no signs of serious fatigue-

Your loss is also a bummer for other high miles T100 owners who may be reminded of the old quote, "Ask not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee..."

The motor threw a rod. I believe the previous owner over heated it. I never thought it ran right or had allot of power. My uncles 2002 tacoma was like night and day in power. I bought the truck around 160,000.

Aye ya !

Thanks for the fast response. Sounds like it was destined to die an early death...
Recently, a man on the street offered $5000 for our 96 T (184K). He seemed sane.

Anyway, don't give up on the T; on the other hand they are all getting older.

Happy Trails...

Well I thought about a new motor. I just can't bring myself to spend 2 to 3 grand on that truck. If I knew it would drive better than it did on the high way i might do it. It would shift out of overdrive on the interstate and go no where :/ plus it got 12 mpg average. If anyone wants to buy it for parts or has a spare motor ill sell it. It's probably going to end up in the junkyard anyway.
