Ran out of Gas

A buddy of mine has a 2005 V8 Tundra, his girlfriend ran it out of gas. After they put some fuel in it, it will not start. It tries, but no go. Is there anything that needs to be reset??

Why is running an EFI out of gas such a bad thing? I've done it before on my old Jeep and Toyota PU and they started right up and a fill up.
