I'll wait and see since you can't really tell too much about the final product from those pics. It's still a test mule.

 

Why does it seem that every time a new Toyota comes out everyone is like, "What did they do?", "They should have made it with a SFA", "It looks like a ______".

Heard it with the new 4Runner, Tacoma, Land Cruiser,AND FJ Cruiser.

 

Sorry, didn't mean to hurt your feelings, I just think the whole "bigger is better" mentality that Toyota seems to be taking sucks. So does this mean you're in line for a 08 Sequoia?

 

It doesn't look like a Trailblazer. It actually looks like it has the new Tundra front end.

 

If it looks like the new Tundra then I'm interested.

 

The Sequoia has always been teh Tundra's counterpart so why would that change?

 

It's a SUV version of Tundra.

 

From the pics i think it will look fine, if you like the new Tundras you should like the new Sequoia.

I would agree with you on the Toyota getting bigger issue. The reason I went with my runner was because of it's size and the fact that I could fit in one, I am 6'6" and 245#. I don't want anything that big because it is that much harder to get around where I typically travel in the outdoors. That being said, the majority of Americans who purchase trucks and suvs feel the need to buy the biggest and baddest mall-crawler, cough-CXT, because of the image not because of its off road prowess.

 

Looks like Toyota hired some Ford Designers---same rear end as a Ford Expedition...looks the same body wise too..

 

If its got the Tundra front end, than I think the front will at least look pretty good. Too much coverin on the rear to say if I like it or not, but if it's anything like the back end of Toyota's other SUVs, it's probably ugly.

I do like the front though.

 

Although I really don't like the IRS factor, aside from that its nothing more than moving onward into 2008+ vehicle styling. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive that the only place you can buy a Tundra or Sequoia is in America. What do Americans like? Big, luxureous vehicles. There is really nothing wrong with that. It suits our needs. Trucks and SUV's are kind of becoming the American way. Toyota is doing the smart thing by appealing to the comsumers that will buy these vehicles. Let's face it, no member of YotaTech, or any other offroad enthousiast site, is going to buy a huge top-heavy luxury SUV to going tromping around and scraping up in the woods. We all buy late-model vehicles and, through varying stages of modification, achieve advanced capabilities in the areas we focus on. What I'm getting at here is, Toyota is just marketing to the people that will actually buy these vehicles. We are not these people. Thus, why make a solid axle, bare-bones, manual transmission rock-crawler for a family of five? I think Toyota is starting to dominate in this area. As for their other vehicles (Tacoma, 4Runner, FJ), these are the trucks that we should really concern ourselves with as far as what direction Toyota is heading.

i am still waiting for the SMALLER pickup to come back. pre-huge tacoma.
Toyota give me a 2 seater, solid axle pickup then lets talk.

 

The new Tundras look ugly to me for the most part but they may grow on me. I love the new Tacomas though. Especially the blue! Unfortunately Toyota doesn't seem to be addressing the issue of fuel economy. I guess that's Americas fault and it will come back to bite us eventually.
