exhaust

Hi,
I am new to the forums & just purchased my first Toyota product last summer. I have a 04 Tundra Quad Cab.
My question is this where the exhaust pipes come down past the two cat converters into one pipe I noticed that instead of fitting into the reducer @ close to the original pipe diameter that they are crimped to about half of the size of the original diameter. I checked my other truck which is not a Toyota & the pipes are the same size when the two convert into a single pipe.

Would it be to my advantage to have the connection @ the reducer if that is the proper name cut out & have the exhaust pipes re-installed into the adapter @ their original diameter or is this something Toyota does for back pressure?
