I have searched this subject on this forum and found is it a recurring issue... but I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions in my particular case.

Had the brakes serviced by the local dealer two weeks ago. A few days later, the VSC Trac and VSC Trac Off lights start shining. I know that a simple loose gas cap or low brake fluid can cause this to happen, so I check both and no problems there.

I take it to the dealer, they said they get code 1231 and recommend replacement of the skid control (pump)computer part# 895410C060 for about $1500 including labor. Yep, my pants are dirty now!

I've found a new part on line for $300
Should I get a second opinion?
Where is this part located?
Is it a difficult operation to swap this part?
Does it need to be reset after installation?
