2007 Tundra will be on display at the Puyallup Fair from today through 9/25. Don't expect much info, it's a pre-production prototype and a temp was hired to hand out brochures, but minor swag should be available. It's supposed to have a 1,000+ lb. pumpkin in the bed if the crotchety farmer showed up.

This is one of many unadvertised events nationwide to judge customer reaction. If you go, please post your impressions with pics if possible...wondering if the pumpkin actually fit!

Oh, for you flatlanders, Puyallup (nearly impossible to say sober) is a town roughly between Seattle and Tacoma. Huge truck country and the fair will attract 1.2M visitors this year.

The skirt line is waaaaaaaay too high, leaving the body too thick, and the cab to skinny. Also, the headlights are entirely too narrow. Don't they know us "round eyes" need big headlights?
Sorry guys, I can't stand that thing.

2007 Tundra

I believe there is a big press release coming tomorrow on the 07 Tundra. There are Sales Managers attending Trainging sessions right now and at our dealership there has been very little information passed down to us. At his point I can only say that Toyota is serious about securing its place in the market & the information to date is impressive.

Not trying to persuade you, but new Tundra bed depth is a selling feature requested by truck owners, the work truck cab has more interior passenger volume than competitors and it was designed and will be built by Americans in the US. I think your impression of 'narrow' headlights could be an illusion due to the massively larger grille.

Very true, but those are all still things that make it extremely ugly to me.

We're trading in my wife's '02 F150 Supercrew for one of these the day they come out. We made this descision after watching a crash test video of her truck... it was scarry. (And no, she's not one of those women who drive a big truck just for the sake of, she had horses and tows a large trailer.)

im gona guess the later 2. im willing to bet that either both of those systems use the same transfer case casting, with just a different center diff(torsen for the L/C v8 runner, electrohydraulic for seq and v6runner) or they are completely different castings, but share the same tranny to transfer bolt pattern. but i think the current pt system is out, but who knows. i do also think it will depend on engine application as well. isn't the fj cruiser using the hybrid transfer as well?

my roommate has a first year tundra, its up to 167k on it, only problems have been: fuel pump went out, replaced for free even though just out of warranty
i had to replace tps, and today cylinder 2 coilpack died. all in all its been a great truck, i think the first year thing maybe doesn't apply to toyotas anymore there would be no cost effective way to do cylinder deactivation on a dohc engine, so i doubt we see that. i thought about it once, maybe they could put a collapsible tappet in like gm, but then the cylinder head gets quite tall, i think they could maybe redesign the vvt-LI system to make it work, it would kinda work backwards of how it does now, but there would be problems with it as well. dont worry, they will have a hybrid version of this truck for the gas savings, what im really interested in seeing is some nice close up pics of that tranny, im willing to bet that 6 speed already has provisions in its casting for how they are going to integrate the hybrid drive, would be interesting to see.

hey bob,

you pass onto the design guys that mod bob from yotatech says:

"CUT IT OUT W/ THE OBNOXIOUSLY LARGE GRILLS!!!" this grill looks cheap---like Nissan gaudy cheap.

the first gen tundras were the best. still looked like a full size truck, still had style, but still looked utilitarian. the 2nd gen tundras had that tri-level stupid stick on grill...and now this?

the specs on the truck look good truck, but seriously, its getting out of hand w/ the exterior trim

The first HP numbers I've seen. MSNBC is reporting that the Tundra will be putting out 381HP!!!

Wow... all I've got to say. 381 in a stock truck is pretty dang good... Only thing is that the truck looks it'd be more at home cruising through space.

Those long bed pics were redicolous. Jeez, the amount of bikes I could fit into the back of that mother on a shuttle run? I'd need a city bus to bring up all the riders!

Yeah, they made a huge deal about the first one rolling off the line here because of the number of jobs it creates for SA. Supposed to stimulate our economy...

It's the biggest manufacturing plant in TX, employing 4,200+ at startup with room to grow. It's also the world's largest Toyota plant, and that's saying something considering the latest facilities built in Europe and Asia. Ironic that an American designed and built truck will take Toyota to #1 in the world.
