Towing Brake Controller

I have a new 2004 Land Cruiser with the factory hitch and 7 pin trailer plug. The plug is fully functional. There is supposed to be a plug somewhere under the dash that will allow me to hook up an electronic brake controller. Toyota sent me a diagram of the instrument panel which vagely shows a plug, (T18) called Towning brake controller. I have had several mechanics and trailer shops try to find this plug but were unsuccessful in doing so. Does anyone know where this plug is in relation to the dash and what color wires are attached?

Hey Joe, As you probably know, theres not a ton of people on YT that have cruisers. The best place to find an answer to that one is IH8MUD.com Do a search first though. Most questions can be answered with a quick search.

As far as the trailer assist plug, I'd imagine that it would be there on the pin connector and not inside. I know, not much help, but I'm sure on the link above, you'll get some quick insight to some of the gadgetry that you have on board.

Nice ride though. If you have a chance, care to post a pic? I'd like to see a shot of it.

Hmmmm I dont know the exact location of the plug. But in all other vehicles it seems to be under the dash around the kick panel. Look for a small black plug with blue, black, white and red wires going to it. In general its easy to miss but located right in front of you if you have it. Hope this helps.

I have just registered here and I am also a new owner of an 87 fj 60 cruiser. Any idea how hard it is to install a rear shoulder seat belt upgrade? The body is pre drilled for it but not sure how much work to get to the holes?
