Kazuma/TRD SC

O.K. I have broadened my search for an 80 with lockers... '95 - '97.
Can anyone tell me any difference between the 3 years in question?

Also, is anyone useing the Kazuma SC on the 4.5L? Good? Bad?

Thanks again,

WM

I suggest you sign up onhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/80scool/
You have to become a member but there is a ton of info on 80's in general. Not a slam to this board but there isn't mush LC action here. Quite a lot of guy's have installed a supercharger on their 80's/LX 450's so you can search the archives. Of the top of my hear, most people love the SC but there are some quality control problems with the kits. In some cases bolts are too long and need to be ground down. Also, I think a wireing harness needs to be extended. Some day I hope to add one to my 97 LX 450. I think it brings the HP from 212 to about 300. Bob

Hey Bob,

Some day I hope to add one to my 97 LX 450. I think it brings the HP from 212 to about 300.
When you get yours installed let me know what's the difference between bone stock and with the SC installed, and what other issues you may have encounter. I would like to install one on mine also. Imagine an additional 88 HP and of course the additional torque this SC can provide. That's sound better than the V8 installed on current LC/LX 470. Do you know the price for the kit by chance?

Noel,
Will do if/when I install one. Price for them is $2700-$2900 for the kit. There was a sale on them in Nov about $500 off list but I was low on cash. Here's a link:

Bob,

97 LX 450 stock with lockers

Hey Bob, you cracked me up. I can't help myself but keep on laughing when I saw your signature with grin avatar. I was LOL when I saw that, heh heh heh, you naughty boy

I don't know why I bought that LX knowing it does not have the lockers. I guessed I was magnetized and got sucked by the new car smell plus pressure from the wife. Oh well, I guess that leaves me room for improvement and lockers will be added on the mod list. I know it won't be that easy but I like my LX. OK have fun.

LOL. I did that just for you Noel Just having some fun. When I was shopping for my 80 or LX I didn't find many with the lockers. Most dealers didn't even know what they were. This was an advantage because they didn't charge any more for them. I put the word out at a few dealers to look for one with a little dial switch to the left of the steering wheel and sure enough a salesman called me a week later. My LX came in from the original owner on a trade-in for a new 470.
Good luck with your LX! Bob
