Question '99 Landcruiser

We just bought a '99 Landcruiser w/ 60k miles. It has already gone through the 60k mile service. It has bumper to bumper warranty until it reaches 100K. Are there any recalls or "weaknesses" I should know about for "preventive" care?

IMHO, you own the best of the FJ100's. I've owned every FJ100 from '98 until '00 when Toyota went to electronic driveline controls. If you have the optional rear locker, you're set. The most critical maintenance item I recall is replacement of the cam drive belt on the 2UZ. Don't delay on this service. If the belt breaks, at the least you'll be stranded. At worst, you'll encounter bent valves and munched pistons IF the 2UZ is an interference design, but I'm not 100% sure if it is. It's an incredible SUV, congrats!

The 1998-01 4.7L V8 Land Cruisers are interference engines.

So, if the timing belt breaks the valves will make contact with the pistons and cause much internal damage.

That's good to know.
