Its likely a 24 volt system. You have probably killed your batteries. Make sure you charge them up properly.

A little progress

Thanks again for all the help,,, Its a 12v system and the 24v thing was some super glow plug deal which I dont have ,,,pretty sure mine are 6v glow. I got the electrical issues solved I think and now I just gotta figure the original problem out. It starts good but wont keep running. I installed a oil pressure sending unit off another yota I have and it does same thing. I shorted the wire to ground and same thing, so now I am thinking fuel issue. I may have some time tonight to mess around ,,,, I almost had it running last night.

What do you mean by it starts but won't run? Like it starts but dies as soon as you release the key or it runs for a few more seconds?

i ran a tank of home-made biodiesel through my old '02 dodge diesel 4x4 6spd, ran great!!!!!!! (it was like 110* outside so i had no jelling issues)

after the tank, i filled up with regular highway diesel, and it ran like crap for a bit, smoked like a freight train!!!!...butttt, after a few WOT's up to about 5000rpms....she ran like brand new

point is, it's not gonna hurt the motor to run at WOT for a second or so....

ya it starts easy but dies right away,,, you cant get it to keep going at all,, light throttle , feathering etc....just dies, I think I ruled out the oil pressure sender and if my fuel was no good it prolly wouldnt start so well...?

Ya I think so, bad fuel would make it harder to start. I'd look at the Edic more closely. I don't know if there is a lever on it to manually open it or not. Search for it on ih8mud.

The lack of oil pressure shuts it off so it could be not getting the signal from the oil pressure switch or it could be other electrical issues or the Edic could just be bad. I don't really think they are too cheap unfortunatley.

Again NO WOT BS! 5000 rpm is not good for a diesel. They are not designed for that when they are hot let alone stone cold.

stubborn 60

thanks flyer,,, I shorted the sender unit wire to ground thinking this would by pass it. not sure but didnt help. i already tried another ignition switch as well. I been reading the stuff from ih8 and a couple other sites. No WOT worries as I couldnt rev it out if I wanted to as the beotch just dies instantly when you quit the starter. I still need to do all the fuel stuff,,, all I did was add some diesel treat. I will get an edic or whatever I need to to get this machine going,,, I gonna do the fuel control relay tests and I will do the edic research.

The 22re is not a swap for the 2F so I am going to say no. They do look the same though. you will burn out your gauge.

oil gauge

Thats a bummer, hopefully I didnt burn my gauge messin around. I have the gauge outta said runner to run separate. I cant seem to get any free time though to mess with the junglecruiser. There is an issue with the control relay/edic deal I think. I have the oil sender waitin at PartSource for 60 bucks,,,was hopin to use the free one offa the runner but owell. I sold another 22re and a spare head today for some bj60 repair funds so I just gotta figure out what is pooched and replace it. I gotta go out in the bush for a few days workin before I get any free time. Thanks again for all the help.

Cruisen Now

Many thanks to everybody who posted, I got her running this weekend. All it took was the new oil pressure sender and a dremel tool. I removed the fuse panel and took out every fuse, cleaned em and then used a tiny wire wheel on the dremel to clean each fuse holder contact......put it back together and bang all my stuff was workin. Yeeeehaw I instantly burned around the house a few times for the ole lady,,,hahaha,,, and took her for some testing on the back forty. Everything appears to work except the transfer case is hard to get into 4low but its prolly just stiff from lack of use,,,I will see if I can rectify that. Just driven the cruiser makes me happy, feels like I was meant to get this one. Thanks from a very happy hillbilly.
