Axial AX-10 Scorpion

I need a few hobbies, got the gun for one, having a blast with it.
Yuk yuk yuk, punny 'eh

But I also want a "safer" hobby to take up more of my spare time, time that I really do not even have

Anyways...been wanting a nice RC unit for ages.
A plane would be nice, there is even a RC plane/helicopter field where I work.
However I would rather have something land based to mess around with.

I have neither the time or patience to build a rig, and the one above I linked to is a turnkey rig.
Comes with everything to get you going.

They are coming out with an FJ Cruiser body for it which I would add at a later time.
They also sell that model for cheaper, but you have to build it all, add the servos, the remote control, ect.

It is full time 4WD with locked spools.
It would be cool if you could unlock them too, but this looks like a cool rig.
It articulates very well too.
Does anyone have any experience with this Axial RC rig?

If you have a 4x4 toy, what kind, and does it work good?

 

I used to run a truck, but it was 2wd. I had the RC10T3 which has since been outdated. It was fun little truck. I bought padles for it and took it to the dunes many times. It would hit 30mph like it was nothing, launch of massive jumps and still turn on a dime. I have it run it for awhile though...

 

i dont remember fully, but i saw a guy that made a complete toyota model rc car with all the insides and everything on here. looked really neat.

 

I am thinking this would be a blast at work during lunch, as I know of several places on the site that have mounds, dirt, open spaces, ect.

I do not know if this thing only goes slow, or if it can go fast too.
Will call the place up on Tuesday after the holiday.

 

Most units are speccific to a certain type of driving. It's just like in real life. It's hard to take a full blown crawler up to speed easily/safely. Chances are it is geared down really low, and with the fact that it is locked all aorund (Yes diffrentials do exist in the R/C world) It's not going to corner very well...


If you want to go fast in the dirt, you'll need one set up liek this:

 

I have a Nitro powered HPI Savage. It's a great truck. Goes really fast, perfect for the dunes, beaches and fields. It crawls fine too. Tons of power, can do wheelies, get 10+ feet of air without breaking, etc.

There are some other nitro "monster trucks" that are really nice like the Losi LST and Team Associated GT, but they cost more and I think they break more.

I like those crawlers though, but, I enjoy the speed of Nitro, and all around fun-ness of the Savage. You can pretty much go anywhere, break it out, and jump it, or just mob it. They come in either RTR (Ready to race...built) or in a kit to build. Course you'll need all the tools to work on the engine and such, but, its not all that much money...except when you break things a lot

 

Here is what i have, Traxxas nitro REVO 3.3. (FOR SALE) This thing is stupid fast, and can take allot of hard bashing. The only thing about a nitro truck is keeping the carb tuned...and watching the engine temps...you don't want to run it to hot...or to cool. it's a constent game.

No pics yet but I have a new electric Traxxas Stampede R/C Monstertruck that will do about 30mph, easy to maintain, jumps awsome and will take a pounding and keep on going!!!

Corey, The Scorpion is a solid beginner platform for an RC Rockcrawler. Let me know what you want to do with an RC toy. If you want to build a crawler I can help to direct you. I am part of the CO RCCRawler circuit and am currently ranked 10. www.rccrawler.com is the site to go for all things that are RC Rock Crawling. They are not ment to go fast as they are crawlers. RC Crawling is electric based... Nitro is not a good platform for crawling.

 

Just making sure it was the original T, the T1 if you will.

Oh alrighty. The T is something to behold. I have/had a T3. But it hasn't seen any action in years...

 

I just picked up this vintage Tamiya Bruiser 3-speed. I'm not sure what direction i'm going with it...restoring it to original, or a full on rockcrawler. She has a few details that need to be finished, but nothing major.

It has:
*Polished RC4wd aluminum wheels.
*Aluminum steering arm.
*Aluminum shock mounts.
*Polished chassis.
*Modded tq3 for shiffting.

That is BEAUTIFUL!!! How much did you pay for it? I would love one of those to build a scaler trail rig.

Pretty darn sweet. How fast do those things go? I know they are crawlers, but, there aint much to crawl around here... !!
