Thumbs up The Ruffstuff 9" Axle Housing!

I know what you are thinking, Ford parts? Reading it til the end might make sense here and the pics are nice too!

This is it! The Ford 9" Axle Housing. This axle housing is a touch different than you are used to seeing from housing fabricators, this housing is not quite round! To put it simply, if it was round it would be weaker. The housing has 14 different facets to the basic diamond shape resulting from 36 individual bends! The end result is an axle housing that is the smallest shape possible and strongest shape too, AND there are no abrupt edges to hang up on passing rocks.

We make the Ford 9" Axle Housings to have 1/8" clearance of the ring gear because Ford made all ratio R&P's exactly 9" in diamerer. 3.08 ratios are 9" & 7.20's are still 9". Another beneficial thing to keep in mind when deciding on which axles you want to use is the NASCAR influence. NASCAR has been driving down the price of 9" axle parts for 50 years!

They are available in 1 length (68") and you can cut them if you need shorter. They will come in 1 tube diameter and thickness but you can try and convince me that 3 1/2" x 3/8" wall DOM isn't strong enough. The Body of the housing is 1/4" A50 plate and the faceplate is 3/8 for better stud retention. They are internally reinforced with 6 seperate reinforcements that all tie together to make it way strong. You will also have the option of front or rear and left or right drop. We stock these so you won't have to wait either!

And they aren't that heavy either!

Most of our welders don't dress this way but when Loren wanted to wear the leather apron how could I say no?

Actually, for a hot 19 year old model I think she really liked the housing

These are $640 in the lower 48. I think we can hold this price for a few months if steel dosen't do what it did last summer....We are just finishing up the truss options and I will add them later. The Toyota 8" is having a minor change done and then it will also be done and is $550! We will also make these for the Super 14 as Portal Tek makes them available.....

Arrow Ok, I'm late! I just got back from...

The Cantina for the 'Con and thought I would share a bit of info on our housings since so many of you have visited our site after reading this thread....(I can see where you jump from when you visit).

We brought the new Toyota 8" housing to the event at the spillway and the response was huge! I did get the approval of the Toyota Guru himself on the housing! Marlin of Marlin Crawler said he definately liked it so I will be sending him one and John Robertson (Sales Manager of TG) said he would be calling me on Tuesday to get one for the front of his own buggy!

I have seen and understand the dilema of the Knuckleballs so we are making 2 alternatives. One is very simular to the stock issue with a 12% strength gain and another is ~250% stronger than the stock ball. We are making these for the obvious reasons! They haven't been made since '85 and if they aren't made by someone the 8" axle will simply fall out of use as they rust away and housings get more and more expensive to replace.

TG has done a tremendous job making the 8" High Pinion 3rd available at a great price but if you can't complete the axle they might as well be free. Our balls will not be compatable with the TG offset axle housing because ours will not be offset. I spoke to John this weekend about the challenge of making the ball strong with that offset and I would not want to be in the position of having to design it! They will be compatable with all the other axle housing manufacturers though.

Just getting the facts out in public... In case they weren't known already!

its good to see some new products, and yes finally some one is going to be making the Ball ends. The bad for me is I have decided to stick with ifs for now but in long enough time I may place an order. THE HOUSINGS LOOK GREAT, THAT IS SOME BITCH'EN 4X4 BLING.

We are nearing 500 in use now! We don't get your order and just look at it for 3 months before we do something about it
