Please Help! 2001 prerunner possible brake noise

I have a 2001 Tacoma 2wd Prerunner with a 4 banger. For the past month I have heard a squealing sound coming from the undercarriage. I thought it was the front disc brake wear sensor. I replaced the front pads with no change. Good thing, they needed to be replaced anyway. It sounds like a loose heat shield but I am unable to diagnose the problem anybody else had this issue? Do the rear brake shoes have a wear sensor too?? Help! I don't want to take my truck to a mechanic who will charge me up the ass to tell me they can't find the problem. Thanks in advance and cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I made sure to check that when I replaced the front pads. The noise stops when the brakes are fully applied.
