Are you under the impression that shocks lift your truck?

Not sure you will get much help if you don't want to get a lift, you could crank your front torsion bars and do a spring over in the rear I guess.

I added a "add a leaf" to the rear and the rear shock is short. Now I'm thinking about turning up the torsion bar a bit. will the front strut be short???

You could put a pair of ball joint spacers up front:

Longer shocks may be required:

Or you can shim the shocks you have up front for a little more length:

3" body lift and a ball joint spacer and a block in the rear and it would sit pretty high, doing all of those should only take about a days worth of work with basic tools plus a jack and grinder.

so is this thing already a spring over axle (SOA)? if not adding a leaf to it lowered it...

Adding a block will lower the truck, not lift it. 2wd pickups have the spring go under the axle and not above it, simply moving the springs to the top will lift it and would only cost some fab and spring perches. And a 3" body lift?

A 2wd is already going to look funny so might as well body lift it,and I'm under the impression that it's already soa so a block will lift it

My 4x2, and every other one I've seen, are spring under.

I cranked the t-bars (no ball joint spacers available for pre-84, AFAIK) and added a 3" body lift. I'm against body lifts but it's my beater/parts runner so I don't care.

2WD pickups are spring under axle in back.

Maybe that is the case. If indeed it had an SOA conversion, he would be looking at a good 4" of rear end lift off the bat.

Yea im thinking a soa would be too much ,it would sit like a hot rod unless you max the torsions out

That and brace the upper control arms, they are pretty weak out at the ball joint and can crack there under hard use:
