Thanks Bob, I can not wait to go back.

I hear the other local indoor range closer to me (only ten lanes though) has a discount for Boeing employee's, so that would be great.
One of the Boeing police officers here was telling me that today.

This Saturday though I am heading out to a local shop to check this puppy out.
I was all set to get the Acog TA31H-G for the AR, but I think this is more important to get first.

Will have to look at those grips, but the Glock felt perfect in my medium sized hands.

Good looking safe Corey...

Maybe you could change that grey carpet liner for a faux tiger skin and make it all pimp daddy bling... lol jk

You ever loom at one of those under seat safes for the FJ? It would keep your piece safe when you have to leave it in the truck when you go in some place where you can't /don't want to carry but would still keep it close.

There shalt be no tiger print in my safe

Change of plans, and I am glad I went to the store instead of ordering the Liberty online from them.

It was a pleasant 13 or so mile drive (Droid told me how to get there ) with great views of Mt. Rainier on this cold but very sunny day.

I went in and asked to look at the Liberty Centurion DLX 23 and it was very nice.
However he showed me a fairly new brand which is part of the same group that makes Browning and others, and this one is the same size dimension wise, but has a better fire rating, door bolts on top too instead of just the sides like the Liberty one.
DS23 ~ 30w x 23d x 59h - 530lbs.

Dakota Safes

Model is called Watchman DS23.
http://www.dakotasafe.com/welded.html

This model is harder to break into than the Liberty Centurion, more than twice as long fire rating, better doors, and the shelf configuration is better too.

Video
http://www.dakotasafe.com/dakotavideo2.html

It will be delivered two Tuesdays from now.
Lot of custom stuff can be added to the door too such as Velcro holsters to hold pistols, but I am holding off unless I add more pistols later.

Went with a standard dial combination lock with key insert to unlock the dial.

Saw this site mentioned in the video, they have some cool hand gun racks.

No tiger print eh? You got no style brotha I'd go for tiger print in a minute at least on the door...
Well you can always go for white (or pink) "fun fur" for an idea look at the pimp's caddy interior in dirty harry 2...
as for the pistol racks I would'nt go for the last choice... Don't take the chance on damaging the rifling or getting some contamination in there... your first warning might be the gun blowing up in your hand lol
the only things that go in the barrel are a bullet exiting or cleaning/lubing devices going in and out again.

I would go for the regular type rack like in the second picture.

And here is an excellent link I found this morning while searching for Golden Rod, a heater that maintains the safe at an even temperature inside.
This link is chock full of good ideas.

This is an awesome thread. Here is a few pics of my AR, in a few different configurations.
With the CAA verticle grip/flashlight, Beta drum, Magpul CTR

With the CAA stock w/ adjustable cheek piece and Red/Green lit reticle scope

And for the Zombie apocalypse

BTW: I have sold ammuniton for the last 20 years. The only difference between 5.56 and .223 Rem is the 5.56 has a thicker wall on the casing. Other than that there is NO difference between the two and they can be shot in either rifle.

sorry, been a while since I had a chance to check YT, I'm back now....

on the Lone wolf barrels, I found a better option, go with Bar-Sto if you can afford it ($200 for a barrel) vs. LW's $135 or so.... the deal is with the chamber, glock chambers have a HUGE portion (at the 6 o'clock) of unsupported chamber which causes bulges and down the road will cause a 'Glock-a-Boom' (ask me how I know...)

several choices to avoid Glockabooms;

don't reload or only reload brand new brass....

buy a Bar-Sto barrel (or lone wolf)...

or buy Redding's G-RX die which resizes the ENTIRE case to eliminate the bulge....

I went with option 3, soon to add option 2..... showed up today.... along with my lower parts kit for my latest AR.... It's everything I dreamed of, hahaha

I built a DPMS lower parts kit into my aero precision lower (model AP15, cal MULTI), gotta do a little polishing but she's sweet...

As I said before tho, cannot go wrong with Glocks, they are fantastic... always work, with any ammo you feed it.... can't ask for much more!

oh and can't remember if I mentioned this earlier, the safe 'heaters' are a must, they're super cheap and WORK great especially if you have any significant investment in guns sitting in there. they do NOT remove moisture as the silica gel does but it maintains an even temperature to eliminate condensation ( and subsequent rust) from temp changes...

I use both and the safe is in an unheated outbuilding in Western WA and all guns are free of rust since the goldenrod device...

OH I get it know... personally I was always taught that heat sources and live ammo where to be kept apart always... but moisture does make powder "unstable" so I guess some sort of humidity control method would be desirable.

Of course the big question is how do you get the power cable into a fire proof, sealed safe...

aa, I will more than likely just keep the Glock stock for now.
Plus I never intend on shooting reloads through it.

Maybe in the future I will look at a different barrel, but I have seen quite a few torture test Glock videos, and one guy has even shots thousands of rounds through it and has never lubed or cleaned the gun.
Shows you Glock quality right there.
I am a firm believer in Glocks.

Paul, not sure on how it remains firesafe, but they would not do it if it compromised it.

The safe arrived Tuesday of this week, and I am very pleased with it.
When I was there I was shown a better safe than the Liberty one I was looking at that I posted earlier above.
The Dakota is still 23 cubic feet inside, but has twice the burn time, better intrusion protection, and bolts top and bottom besides the normal ones on the side that lock the safe.
http://www.dakotasafe.com/
Mine is the Watchman model.
http://www.dakotasafe.com/dakotaweld.html

They hooked up the Goldenrod dehumidifier for me too by running the wire through the rear of the safe, and it just sits on the bottom of the floor on holders.
It is warm to the touch.

Here are a few pictures showing it closed, open with no lighting, and then the lights activated.

I bought some motion sensor ten LED lights off of Amazon, but I am not happy with them.
The light output is adequate, but you have to trip them again after thirty seconds when they go out.

I ordered a motion sensor LED light to go above the combination lock from this outfit a few days ago.
http://lightmysafe.com/
http://www.lightmysafe.com/Automatic...mbination.html

I am going to order the AC lighting kit with three light bars seen on this page.
http://www.lightmysafe.com/Light_Kits.html
Those are the old pictures on their gallery page and not updated ones of better/brighter LEDs in the light bars.
They are revamping their site soon to show the better kits in the gallery.
If you end up ordering from them, try the IE browser, as the order links do not work with Firefox.
He explained to me the page was written to work with IE when they designed it.

I will post updated pictures when I get the combo lock early next week, then later pictures of the inside lighting kit.

What impressed me was the lift truck they used to bring the safe up the stairs and to the front door.
I was so impressed with the lifting devise I had to show my supervisor and lead at work, and we are now going to order one for work.
In our penthouses we have these giant electrical motors for the heat/vent system known as air handlers.
Sometimes the motors needs to be taken out and replaced/rebuilt, and they weight around 500 lbs each.
In the past we had to open a hatch on the roof and use a hoist to bring them up, with one of these we will be able to take it up the stairs.
Also there are big water heater tanks up there, with one of these UltraLifts it will make the job much easier.

hey guys,
if you are into AR's and guns in general, you would probably like my hubby's shop, he does custom AR , makes his own barrels and even has a patent for the AR-15 trigger (2-3 lbs pull with no creep)
we are in Kansas but he sells all over the USA (other than handguns of course)

anyways, It's called G-Trigg and the link is in my sig

hopefully, this post is appropriate considering the topic

the paint job on it isn't great, he was mainly playing with contrasts and never had the time to do it right after opening the shop, too busy doing other's guys guns! LOL

that Winchester is actually the hubby's personal deer hunting rifle and we are in Kansas so lots of open spaces here
just at our house, we own 15 acres but there is over 1000 acres around our property (pasture and woods) and the residences are far and few in between, not even 1 house per mile...we LOVE it!! LOL

are silencers legal in your state?... just thinking that rifle would look sweet with one on the front... a little .308 boat tail... no sense letting all the deer know when you are there...

how funny you should ask that!! just yesterday (sunday march 6th) we had a silencer AKA suppressor workshop!! LOL

so yes they are perfectly legal in Kansas and many other states as well.

in a nut shell, if you can get a firearm in the USA, you can acquire a suppressor. There is a little bit of paperwork involved and a $200 fee but really it's not the hassle some people think it is. And as far as price, it's like guns, depends what you want/need and your budget, roughly between $300 and $800.

the guys had fun yesterday, we had about 30 people showing up, we did the "class" at the store and then everybody drove over our place and got to shoot machine guns AKA full auto rifles and different calibers rifles, pistols etc, all fitted with silencers

too bad you are in Ontario, we are having another workshop next month!

Thanks for the invite anyway...

IDK why silencers are illegal here... if I wanted to plink away in my back 40 (if I had a back 40 lol) there's no reason it should disturb my neighbours or stress the local wildlife...
