Very nice olharleyman!

After reading over on S&W's 15-22 sub forum, I decided to order up two of the Hogue rubber grips with internal storage from Amazon.
The stock grip on both my Colt AR15 and the new S&W are not the most comfortable, and the Hogue has finger grooves in it, and makes a big difference in comfort quality.

Still need to install the one on my AR15, but I am in no hurry since I will be spending time shooting the 22 much more.

Also picked up 5000rds - 22LR Federal American Eagle 40gr. from Ammunition To Go.com, but it seems they are out of stock on it now.
Got it for $144.95, pretty good deal online.

Here is a picture of the new grip with the stock one off to the side.
You can see how much nicer the new one is.

hogue makes the best grips for the best price I think; got them on almost every pistol I own.

I have used the hogue on the AR's but never bought one of my own. I had a Magpul for about 4 years that had the battery storage in it, loved that one the most.

you've got a very smart set-up ^^ keeping your .22 same same as the AR.

browning just came out with a beautiful little 1911 .22 pistol that looks like it might find a place in my safe to call home. It's slightly smaller but identical to a GI.

Glock has some conversion options but never knew anyone that had one.

I think after I get new suspension, a G35 will be my next purchase, woo hoo!

Good score on the .22 ammo, I need to do the same. no reason NOT to have at least a few thousand laying around

For .22lr 1911's, check out the GSG1911. Full size and identical controls and many pieces will interchange with a mil-spec 1911. I love mine.

that GSG looks like it's made by ATI? yours sounds like it works great, might consider that instead due to the full size. conversion kits are almost as expensive as stand-alone .22 setups.

cool, thanks!

just put a nice new flip-up site behind my optic on my primary AR. switched out my EOTech for a Trijicon reflex site, put my surefire back on and trimmed some rubber picatinny rail covers to fit. some new brass, all I need now is a conversion kit for my Dillon press, I will be cranking out some 5.56 to practice with.

Need to get some pics to show it off... also will load some pics of the Rem 597 quad rail AR setup I bought this year although the S&W .22 is much closer to a true AR platform.

Made by GSG and distributed by ATI.

Gratuitous gun porn:

It has been flawless. Several of the guys over on FirearmsTalk have them as well and report similar results.

KS, that finish on your Ruger looks awesome.

Here is another vid of that stock.
5.56 or .223 here, and much louder than the 22 above.

More goodies for the AR15 and M&P 15-22

Been hanging out on the S&W M&P 15-22 sub forum as of late since I picked up the new 22.
A lot over there customize their rifles with a barrel shroud which takes the place of the flash hider.

A barrel shroud is not to be confused with a fake silencer.
Fake cans are for adult entertainment stars.

One guy who makes these barrel shrouds is a member over at that forum by the name of Tacticool22.
He makes a short and long version, and I opted for the longer one as it looks less like a silencer that way with it going part way into the quad rail opening.
These are also made in the state of Oregon.
I like to support fairly local companies here in the Pacific Northwest as much as I can too.
Also the new case and my SKT slings are local too.

I also want to state that in no way does a barrel shroud make the gun less noisy.
If it did, the ATF would be all over barrel shrouds as in trying to compete with a silencer.
It is legal now to shoot with a real silencer in my state, and I may pick one up in the future for my 5.56 AR15.
I would draw a lot less attention when I am shooting it in the mountains.

I went down today to my shop where I had my Colt AR15 transformed extensively for them to take off my stock flash hider.
You take it off with a 3/4 open end wrench which I have at home, but I could not get enough torque, and I did not want to wreck the barrel.
It is best to use a vice and a set of barrel jaws which Tacticool22 also sells on his site.

While I was down there I told one of the guy's that the new case I bought at another store did not fit my new 22 very well once I had the optic on top of it.
Also my Blackhawk Homeland Security Discreet case I had bought back in 2007 for my AR15 has a hard time too with the optic on the 22.

It was time to step up to something a little more modern, and they had a case that is made local that was up to the task.
It also can carry both of my ARs, and it is made so you can leave the optics and the Grip Pods on, and still have plenty of room.

Lots of pockets for mags, but I prefer to carry my mags in a range case along with additional ammo, hearing protection, ect...

The new case is very nice, and also has lots of Velcro straps and elastic to go over the barrel end.
Also the new case is a little shorter than the Blackhawk, you just collapse the Magpul stocks to fit the rifles in.
I like the shorter profile better.

On with a few pics.

New case, and it also has an ID window on it

The whole collection for now

Looks like some sweet new goodies there guys...

Corey if you're putting that many rounds through would it not be cheaper to police up your brass and load your own rounds?

My buddy up here who is a black badge competition shooter loads his own to save money.

Paul, not into reloading.
Plus I do not have room to do that.

Glock is against using reloads with their guns too, and it will void your warranty I believe.
I would rather pay the pros who make ammo for a living to cycle through my guns.

I guess I figure that home loading gives you the chance to adjust things a little... lighten a few grains so you don't have to worry about your home def. rounds hurting your neighbour if a round misses and goes through the wall... adding a few grains for for range/hunting rounds to give a little more "omf"... that kind of thing...

Yeah, but my main home defense weapon is the Glock 21SF, and I have good hollow points that are proven in that gun.
Glock is really against any reloading with their guns.

New Primary Arms Micro Dot, and a green laser :)

I felt the Vortex Strikefire red dot scope was a little on the big side, so after reading many positive reviews on the Primary Arms Micro Dot (Aimpoint Micro clone) I decided to order one up to try out.
I like the smaller size of the PA one over the Vortex.

The guy at Primary Arms suggested I go with the fixed base Micro Dot, and add the UTG base to mount it on.

The green laser I ordered is pretty nice for $50.
I would say the dot is on par with my $460 Surefire X400 which is on my Glock 21SF (red laser) which also has a 170 lumen flashlight.
The green laser is HUGE though.
I did take off the Picatinny rail that was on the bottom of the laser, as I do not plan on mounting anything to the bottom of the laser.
That lightened it up a tad.
I am also not using the optional tape switch with it that replaces the tail cap, I am just using the switch on the side.
I really do not need a cord hanging off the side of the rifle.

Compare my Vortex Strikefire to the Primary Arms Micro Dot, it is honkin' big.
I really like the smaller size of the PA one.

Also got four more of the S&W 15-22 25 round magazines, as they were on sale at Midway for around $15.
I now have a total of twelve of them.

Going shooting tomorrow when the indoor range opens up.
Will also be taking my Glock 36 (45 ACP) along to shoot aslo.

After looking at photos of the attractive ARs on here I thought I’d throw one up of my not so pretty AR, but of those I own this is my favorite. When I got it in 2005 it was a plan jane ban AR no flash suppressor, Wilson 1-9 Hbar barrel, who knows what kind of bolt carrier group, stock AR trigger, A2 stock and carbine handguard.

The first thing that was replaced was the stock forearm with a free floated Hyperform carbon fiber handguard and the pistol grip (can’t remember what it is) It was camo’d and became my coyote hunting rifle. Later it was replaced in that role by a Rock River stainless steel upper on a Superior Arms lower.

About 1 ½ years ago I decided it was silly to have it sitting around doing nothing, so I decided I’d make it my HD rifle. Replaced the barrel and BCG with a Daniel Defense 1x7 M4 barrel and a DD BCG. Replaced the trigger with a Geissele SSA, and put a red dot on it with a Troy folding rear BUIS. Switched out the A2 stock for a collapsible stock.

I know, the paint doesn't match the stock and its chipped up here and there and the barrel is and red dot are still black but now instead of sitting around gathering dust its my go to AR for almost everything.

I just built a couple lowers, one for me, one for a buddy; getting good deals on mega arms lowers, they also have teamed up with adams arms gas piston drive uppers, gonna get my hands on one of those pretty soon. mega arms with DPMS mil-spec guts, works beautiful for about the cheapest that can be had. plenty of manufacturers now though, most are pretty good.

lookin' good Corey, I wish I had gone the S&W route for my .22 AR setup, the remington 597 quad rail is cool but it is horribly inaccurate; need to send it back I think for a re-barrel.

here's my latest addition, Gen 4 glock 35, yee ha! 15 rounds of .40 on tap!

This is what you get to meet if you break into my house now, the 1911 is in the safe for the time being, like the extra firepower/barrel length and sight radius and is much lighter.

$545 total at a local shop, oh yeah.

3.5 lb connector (ghost rocket, been using them for a while now, love 'em) and a hogue grip. Going to add a plastic speed funnel/magwell for $30 and change out the transfer bar, probably add a heavy connector spring for better reset, maybe some nightsights down the road.

I have a bunch of 15 round stock mags plus a few 22 round mags, those things are hilarious and work awesome! $40 at midwayusa.com
