I thought of that, i was going to do something similar to a bungee strap wrapped around the reel and bolted to the tube to make sure they don't fly out...

I bag the reels to keep bug debris off & throw them on top in the ski carrier.

i put a gun rack bolted to my bench seat of my 22re. Works good but do have to take the poles apart. Berly fits shotguns.
