fixing a cab for a customer ..
Cab is a 2WD cab we got so we have some other mods to do as well .. First is the rusty floors !!




started by cutting everything out







and then some POR 15




curing overnight

built some new pieces , and installed










and inside

finished up the floor




now time to seam seal and epoxy

WOW! nice work, I wish I could bring my '80 to you for the floor, mine needs it too! Looking forward to the seeing the finished truck, you guys do great work.

we are currently working on a replacement cab for the 1st gens . with a few different options .

a partial shell for the "buggies" to a complete replacement for the stock units. 2013 is going to be an exciting year

well more the just floor repairs

battery tray and area was toast , so cut to repair




new piece made , and welded




and new tray set in place .. not epoxied just yet , just sitting there




also fixed the rear cab area

Do you have more info about that .... i will stop looking in the States for a good cab if you will sell them. Are they complete, we just need to add our dash, seat and everything or do we need partial cab section . Let me know im excited about that!!!!!

Were building 3 different options ..
a "shell" for the buggie guys , a cab with no rad support , for the guys with tube fronts , and a cab with rad support complete with even a battery trey .
Floor up to the firewall section and mounts are steel , with a fiber shell epoxied .
we are going to offer a cage as well .. + dash and other goodies .. we are just in the process of building

Excuse me for being a newbe to rust repair, but what gauge metal did you use for the floors? How did you get the metal to match the stock contours?
I am probably going to replace my rusted battery tray also, so any info on the tray replacement would be a great help.
Been watching you rebuild, some awesome work going on in your shop. Too bad I'm in the lower 48

 

battery trey we sell http://www.toyotafiberglass.com/truck_12.html is chemical resistant and simply will epoxy into place




steel guage is 20 , and I used my bead roller for the corrragations .. works great for strengthing the panel

well being this is a 2wd cab , there are some mods to fit to a 4wd .
one of them being the front mount . One way is to replace the front crossmember .. probabally the easiest , but I dont have one , and I cant find one , so heres how I'm going to fix it :







some welding , and finishing , and I can check this part off the list

Have you guys made any progress with the full cab options?

Wondering as I'm in a similar (but worse) situation and weighing options aside from my current plan to rebuild the entire floor & rockers and then most of the firewall.

 

No I haven't .. my shop is so booked up(2.2 years ) , So I have had to put ALL the new stuff on hold .
looking for staff , but it is VERY difficult .

If you have a look in my Trekker build though , I replaced the works , floor , tranny tunnel , rockers .. might give you some ideas
