so .. a little incite on the panel builds ..
Zack asked for a " water resistant " solution to the deteriorated and warped cardboard backed interior panels , so as you saw in the previous pictures I made some FRP backings .. as well as the rear panels I already make , the interior has begun ..
so started first with the rear panels ..
covered in foam , and then "stitched" new covers ..

I guarantee these new backings will NEVER warp or rot

Great build!
Did you sand the topper smooth before paint? Is there a way to add a little fiberglass reinforcement to the rear bottom corners where it stress cracks from its own weight and setting it down too hard?
Anyone figured out how to get the 4Runner plate out of the side pillar panel to refurb the letters? Seems like the only detail you didn't improve! Wow!
I would've left the hockey sticks flat black to maintain the oem though. Consider plastidip spray if you'd like to try it temporarily. Works well.
Excellent work here. My truck next please!

yes , sanded the top smooth , IMO it is the only way to do it ! .
no way to add reinforcement in the corners , unless you separate the inner and outer .
that plate in the B pillar is just glued in .. there are 2 little holes in the back of the sail panel , I just used a #2 Robertson screw driver and "pushed" them out . I have the moulds to make new ones , I just haven't the vacuum chamber just yet .
all good , everyone has there on likes and dislikes ,Zack wanted the L trims painted to match ...

where did you get the seals from for the doors, sail panels, and for the top and windows, because mine is in need of them very very very soon?
also what did you do to the inside panels use wood ?
and it all looks fantastic great job. when ever i get back state side in about 6 month this is what i am gonna start doing to mine and redo my mess ups.

Rear panel pockets were optional. I didn't have them in my 88's original DLX interior, but I do have them now with this 85's SR5 interior.
So if you want rear speakers cleanly mounted in the back seat, locate a pair without pockets.
Now back to our regular program... More pics of this awesome build please!

I have seen more with out the rear pockets then with the pockets. Only time I see the pockets is on SR5 trucks only. I am not 100% sure but I think if the door and rear passenger panels are vinyl, they will not have pockets, if they have cloth they will have pockets.

calm down now ...
... I have just a couple more pics to satisfy I hope .
Zack is coming on the 24th , so yes , I am done now , and waiting
but here are a few
new door panels

and stripes .. cant show the "final" product , but will post these .
Zack bought these from james dean creations , and brought them with him when he dropped the truck off . because of the flared and round fenders , we couldn't use the whole kit , in fact , it was a bit of a challenge to fit , but we did it .. I wish we could have done our stripes .
anyway ...
my pro stripe guy Wayne doing the install

as you can see , they would be great for a stock unit , but this is now far from stock , so we did have to modify

If only I had known....HEY EVERYBODY, Corey does his own factory stripe package!!!
I'm counting down the hours to get on a plane and pick up my better than new toy! I'm incredibly grateful for all your time and attention to detail Corey and can't wait to see it in person.
