so got it into the shop this morn .. and started the dismantle ..
first problem Is I couldnt get the rear window down , and because I was replacing the gate , i just got the plasma cutter out , and went to work ..

heres why the window didnt work ..

got the window out , and free'd up the door catches .. wow lots of time so far !!

once i finally got the gate off .. time to start the tear down

1/4r windows

and interior

and finally the roof

I really like the creative usage of spray in foam for added moisture absortion in the quarter panel area hahaha.
Can't wait to see more.

more today ...
started on getting the 1/4rs off , (you guys have seen this a 100 times so I didnt want to go into to much detail )

with a little rust around the windshield area , I had suggested to the owner that we pull the cracked windshield out and repair the rust and replace the windshield .. so with that , we removed the windshield

all cleaned up and OMG !!!!

Did that thing spend any time in my neck of the woods?
Fair bit of rust in that one.

got to work on the rear hatch today ..
this was a new/used hatch that the customer had picked up ahead of time , as he new the old one was toast !!

so cut the skin off

window rail is in rough shape , so I had suggested to the customer to replace now , as it will only save money later .. but pleasantly surprised , that the gate shell is in great shape ..

so with the window removed , started to remove the rail

bad bad bad ..

so with that .. we cleaned the inside up and got it POR15'd

also .. got the inners all cleaned up , and some POR15 on those ..

and top rails zinc'd

This usually happens when the windshield is replaced and when they are cutting the old urethane out, they gouge up the metal and take away the paint. Moisture and water gets in and rots it away. The correct way is to prep it and paint it and then put the windshield in but that costs too much and takes too long. All my Toyota had this and they all had aftermarket windshields in them.

Good Job slacker. I love when someone puts this much time and cost into a yota just to keep it alive.

ok so continued on with the windshield repair ..
made some new chanels ..

also started to cut off the lower window drip rails ..
real sore spot for rust .. and my NEW favorite thing to do ..

you can clearly see .. new paint would only "hide" this for a while , before the pillar rusted completely .. "nipped in the bud" now and no more rust ..
