you can pull the codes yourself:
insert a small jumper between the TE1 and E1 terminals in the diagnostic plug:

then go inside and turn the key on (but don't start). The CEL will start flashing the codes at you. The codes are made up of 2 digit numbers so you might get something like: 2 flashes, pause, 4 flashes, long pause, 4 flashes, pause, 1 flash, long pause... meaning 24 and 41 are the codes. When it gets through the list of codes, the flashing will start over from the beginning so if you miss a code or miscount, just wait it'll come back.
Then post the code(s) here and we'll help you figure it out.

21 is basically a short or open in the oxygens sensor heating circuit for .5 seconds or longer or at normal speed the signal from the oxygen sensor is low for 60 seconds or longer
was the o/d light just flashing continuously or did it seem to be flashing a code as well?

Could the O2 sensor code have anything to do with the change in altitude? It came on right outside of Vegas (the big hill after Stateline). The truck seems to be running great (normal) and gas mileage seems to be normal as well.
The O/D off light constantly flashes...no code.

hard to say about the O2. my experience with most of them is they're good for between 80-160k miles depending on brand.
one thing you may try is to pull the EFI fuse on the driver's side kick panel for a minute or two (or disconnect the battery) and see if the code comes back over the next few days. If it does, we can troubleshoot the heater circuit. If that's fine, the o2 is likely bad.
If there were a problem with the transmission, the o/d light would flash codes like the CEL light. Since it's a continuous flash (I'm guessing twice per second), there's no problem.
