fuel tank fab or welder

Bump for welder services.
Preferably Colorado or NM or intermountain region. For fabbing up a stainless or aluminum fuel tank.

Aux Fuel tank

I had an Aluminum (al-loo-min-eum) tank fabbed by a shop over in E Tx somewhere. Cant recall exactly. Don't even remember how I found them.
My archives show a Rock Valley Antique Auto <rvroddin@aol.com> as my only contact back and forth.
Think I spent some $1k. Its was pressure tested, tig welded, yadayada. Was able to find a few photos. I built a shield underneath, more a throw-a-prayer rock/skid plate. Biggest hassle was the filler neck.
He sold me a generic sending unit. Which I ended up removing and replacing with a used yota unit. (I have a switch that toggles between this and original tank (but its also a 'dorman' (?) replacement.) Also my "low fuel light also works. Also I replaced the pump unit bracket with a total jacked-up hybrid. And cut an acess plate in the rear bed so I can swap the pump (more) easily. Also put a spill flap inside the inlet. Building the plumbing for fill was the biggest pita. Many iterations. Can't find any of those pics right now. Not to mention my welding sux, so took pipe down to NM to have a buddy do it decent and not leak.

The downside is my spare tire area is gone. And I could with some effort rig it up to supply the engine, however it really only transfers (into the original fuel inlet) into the faktree tank. Never started a build thread, so these would be only photos I admit to. Let the hatin' begin.

OH! And make sure you get a drain plug. Somehow that got lost in the comms. My maf shows probably holds about 17 gallons. Probably will drain 3-5 gal out before guage shows movement. Also had him put in an internal baffle. Guessing I will have two gal unusable. Only have about 6 gal in right now. Not driving either. Drive train issues. Still need to see if I messed up on transmission, lol. But HEY! I got (old) wheels and tires on it.

tank with some braket. large hole is pump.

Well I can't get the damed text to show. So here is the top part.

Wink

Pretty cool. I have a long bed X-cab truck with a cross bed box that has 11 inches of room underneath it. I'm thinking of going full width across which is about 55''x 11'' tall and will be 13'' wide. Equates to about 33-34 gal. I can use a stock sender with just barely bending the float arm. I'm mostly concerned about accurate empty reading. I will be using a GM switching valve that will also switch the sending unit circuit. I do however have to get real creative with the filler neck and may just keep inside the bed. All I have at the moment is a few sketches and dimensions. This will become reality sometime after the first of the year. Still acquiring parts and getting the truck fuel line plumbing where I want it. Truck is an 86 that is carbureted so there is nothing high pressure to worry about, just switching and filtering. You can see with this pic where I am putting it.

Spare to Rear frame fuel tank

All of it. LOL. I don't seem to have any 'finished product' photos for some reason.
On my laptop now I have a pic of the starting cardboard mock up. And the photos in post above show the raised portion that actually sits higher than the crossmember that supports the tank. So you can use your 'maginater. on The side view, the filler neck is actually above the bottom of the frame rail (hidden in the photo).
