Wmflyfisher's 2002 4Runner Build-Up Thread

Figured I would go ahead and start this for myself and others who look to gain knowledge from my experiences.

Picked up this beauty last week with 111k. Runs great and is a good bit nicer than my Tacoma was.

Plans are to build a mild, yet capable expedition vehicle for camping, hunting, fishing, and those long hwy trips if needed. The list of planned mods are as follows.

Suspension:

- OME 890 Rear Springs
- Bilsteins 5125's
- Fabtech Dirt Logic coilovers
- Diff drop

Tires:

- 285/75/16 Cooper STT's

Interior:

- Cobra CB
- Garmin GPS
- Alpine head unit, Pioneer components, JL Amp & 12W6

Exterior/Body:

- Sliders
- Custom front bumper
- Hella 4000's
- Black pearl emblems

Performance:

- ISR mod
- Trueflow air filter (this combo with ISR mod added about 4 MPG!)
- Magnaflow muffler??

These are obviously the must haves and maybes. I'm sure there will be more along the way. Feel free to add something if you have any suggestions. Stay tuned!

Had some time yesterday so I went ahead and installed my sub, head unit, and CB. I must say that this is the absolute best CB for mounting under an aftermarket CD player. The fit couldn't get any better. Looks as if it belongs there.

Cheers!

No drastic mods yet. Removed the running boards and tinted the windows. Plan to install the lift and tires sometime this week or weekend. Some pics from the mountain earlier today.

I like the way that CB fits in there under the aftermarket cd player.

Nice! I have my uniden cb mounted below my head unit too, but mine sticks out of the dash about four inches. Works as a nice shelf, though.

Hey, what kind of nerf bars are those? Did they come from the factory? I have my stock factory running boards and have been looking for actual nerf bars and i like the way yours look.

Coming along really nicely. Tell us more about the FABTECH coilovers-what kind of shocks come with those?

Thanks Mokai! Man I can tell I'm going to love these tires. I've always been a BFG guy so it was time to try something new. And besides, I got the whole set new for $580 shipped!! They ride awesome so far.

Is that line-x on the bottom of your rig?? I really like that. How is it holding up?? Wonder how much it would run me?

You should be able to get it flush if you take it out and bend theses two tiny tabs on the inside of the bracket. Really easy to do but you might like your shelf!

These nerf bars are factory. Just different that the ugly common factory ones. They look 10 times better and would probably actually work! They are for sale as well. PM me if interested.

I'm really not to crazy about Fabtech stuff but I got a killer deal on these coilovers and they are the dirt logic series. I talked with a lot of people before I bought them and they said they were the "top of the line" series from Fabtech and comparable to Icons. Here is a set for a pretty good deal.

I got mine for $600 new!
