HAB - i've got a auto-disco CV shaft for ya - it's brand new. I carried it as a spare, but never installed it and ended switching to manual hubs.

Finally looked at the veggie garden. The hail damage isn't too bad but I can see you had lots of all-of-a-sudden rain. Had to replant some sprouted seeds and a peat pot that'd gotten washed out. Some of my rows are missing sections. Ah well.
Actually we did fine tree-wise, I've got a chainsaw too (thank you) but not even the old dead falling apart silver maple shed branches.
CV shaft? Hmmmm. I picked up a couple of new (China, urgh) from O'Reilly for the warranty and not having to return my old ones but I wouldn't be adverse to returning one of those...
You'll have to come by on your way out or from C-wood.
"New" wheels (thanks to ERG80) and 1" wheel adapters (I think). I've got just enough threads for the quarter inch spacers I currently have but would like a little more, plus it does rub on rare occasion. I've gotta do some measuring.
Habanero, It was nice to meet you guys. Hope you didn't get too much rain at camp.
How did you like Burgess Falls and where did you end up camping? Cedar's?
You too! Really regret not getting to wheel, but given the amount of water we went through on the way back towards Nashville it prolly wouldn't have been a good time to do so anyway. You really do have a sweet truck, love what you did in the back.
Burgess Falls was beautiful. We went there first and waited the heavier rain out, then hiked and explored. We were back on the highway just in time for the real rain to hit, the weather channel said 2" an hour. Did you get any of that? We went to the science museum in Nashville and had Mexican in Madison, TN while it rained. We left the storms behind us and camped at Land Between the Lakes on the south end. The campground was a little crowded but we survived. It stayed dry all night and we woke up to a blue sky.
Funny, all the tornado watch announcements in IL, KY and TN and a tiny one actually touched down not far from our home while we were away.

The worst of the storms missed us. We just got a lot of rain.
Did you take the stairs to the bottom of Burgess Falls?
Cool. The directions I gave you are to the place where that river empties into Center Hill Lake. In the Summer people put their boats in there and can go almost all the way up to the falls.
If we ever get up that way again I'll check it out. I'll have to give you a holler and see if I can con.....er.....talk you into a guided wheeling trip.
96 4runner:
CV shafts. Joints are fine but the left inner boot died a gruesome death (it was cracked last weekend, thus no wheeling in TN) and had to deal with it. Wow! That was actually easy! Got a little carried away and did the other side too (but thank you so much for the offer, Amorphous). Got both sides done a lot faster than I figured so I had time for....
Steering Rack bushings. Ok. I thought this would be easy. It wasn't. Nope. It wasn't the worst thing ever, just not the misleading 'it's only 3 bushings' I was kind of thinking. Now the rack no longer shifts around when you turn the steering wheel, nice and solid.

5/22 96 4runner...
two partially finished projects:
Wheel caps need to be finished (they came painted but I wanted a monotone) but it's been too wet/humid, need to do some wheel well plastic/bumper skirt thingy trimming though there's only a small bit of rub on hard turns.
I'd never planned on doing the grille, but all the bottom supports were broken or completely missing as were a lot of the other inner plastic
so it was either find a new grille or go with the El Cheapo Satoshi version. I still need to finesse the mesh (gutter guard, screws I had laying around) and am thinking of painting it a dark grey to mute it some. I also need to finish trimming some of the little bit of plastic still left inside though you can't see it. After that I have to decide- use the original emblem or wait until I can afford a TOYOTA. Prolly wait.
*sigh*
the TOYOTA emblem would be nice but i'm partial to it. For what it's worth i kinda like the new grill. If you painted it it would tone it down some. I still love the blue on that 4runner. Definately one of my favorite colors on a yota.
Thanks mightymouse, I keep forgetting it looks like that, guess I don't get around to the front much. I'm still up in the air about what to do with it, I still have to finish, but the rotted section of soffit and eaves got all my attention today.
I did get some new shoes for the 99 4runner, LT265/75r16 Michelin LTX A/T2.
