Hayden Transmission Cooler Install
I found a brand new Hayden Transmission cooler on craigslist.org for $35.00 and I got around to installing it today.
First I gently removed the front grille by removing the two little screws on the bottom (not sure if oem) and squeezing the clips and gently pulling up and down to release them (didnt break a single one)
Next I removed the skidplate very straight forward located all three (yep I found out I was missing one) bolts within 2mins ... and then I determined which line was the hot side and cold side of the transmission lines. my passenger side was the hot side as it turns out and drivers side was the cold side (contradictory to what I had read on someone elses install)
Then I removed the OEM transmission lines from the hard pipe by gently scoring the line with a razor knife being sure not to score the hard pipe. Then I drained the Transmission fluid because it was soo old it looked like engine oil
After that I installed the new lines (the one supplied by Hayden and a 2' section of 3/8" transmission line I picked up from Carquest) routing the HOT line up along the engine bay and out through the hole that the AC lines pass through to be mounted in the top of the Hayden cooler. The COLD line was routed through the lower portion of the engine bay next to the bottom of the radiatior and AC condenser to be mouned in the bottom of the transmission cooler. This set up made sense to me since hot air rises.
Then I reinstalled the grille, skidplate and consulted the owners manual for transmission fluid capacity (listed as 2QT) then I refilled the transmission with fluid and cleaned up after my mess.

I also fixed the roof rack today with 2-6mmX20mm SS bolts 2-1/4" SS washers and 2-3/8" zinc plated washers not as convient as the stock knobs but it was cheap and holds the rackbar down good now

Decided to paint my old faded and chipping grille today. Put on 5 or six coats of the black im going to tape off the black tomorrow and spray the center section a gunmetal "hammered" color resprayed the sombrero emblem too but it turned out alot more matte than I was expecting so I may re-do it
Also my toytec adapers should be in on the 19th so excited to try on my new wheels

Finally ordered lift and tires OME 883 front and OME 891 Rear with 6027 shocks I am pleased with the way it rides because I like my truck to ride like a truck but I can see where some people could complain about the ride being rough (but its a truck)
The tires are 305/70 R16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracks and just from handling them they seem like they will last a while they are load range E and have pretty stiff sidewalls. They make hardly any noise on the road (barely audible)
I had to get spacers for the fronts tires to clear the control arms (couldn't even get a bolt on)
Enough talk heres the pictures
Oh and I should add that the front has 2" spacers because with the stock backspacing the tires would not even get close to bolting on because they were hitting the upper a arm hard

As far as the headlights go I purchased these

The clear lenses really do let alot more light shine on the road

Got my Trailhead Tire deflators today
39-13psi in 3:32 they take the same amount of time as deflating the tires manually because they are limited by the valve stems but atleast you dont have to sit there the whole time

CB Install/ Relocation
So I noticed I never covered my CB Install so here are a few pictures of my setup.
I have the Cobra 19 although I am sure the midland, unidyne or any other compact CB will fit in the ashtray area
My first set up:
I liked this setup but I am planning on getting a double din radio sometime in the near future so I wanted to move it to the ash tray location
For my antenna I used a mirror mount and got longer bolts from home depot
and I grounded it like this
I mounted it on the roof like this for two reasons.
-Better SWRs
-Cheap
With the spring installed I dont have any worrys about the antenna getting ripped off I have gone through the woods and it has never given me an issue

My new/old 98' 4Runner...
I've now been a 4runner owner for 3 weeks! I travelled to Vancouver BC to pick up ride.... I'll be using it to tow my sportboat and 4x4 in the Okanagan back-country. In the Winter, we need a good 4x4 to get up the mountain to ski and sometimes, just to get home from work!
Work done:
Trailer wiring
Trannie cooler
flush all fluids:trannie, front/rear dif, transfer case, coolant, PS.
to do:
towing shocks or load levelers.... any suggestions??
