What I got out of reading his reply is that if YotaJam had been a total cluster%$#@ with no organization, no pre set plans and we hadn't kept them in the loop then all would be good!

Try to do the right thing and get stomped on, typical government.

Rant mode off

you brouhgt up a very good point , an unorganuzed event , with multiple participants , that doesnt use rules , or give out flyers about fire safety or proper trial riding , can cuase a heck of a lot more damage then an organized yet smaller group of nature enthusists . i understand as most of our fellow yota tech people due that you carry out what you brought in , you tread lightly , and do you part to clean up any thing left behind by others ( namely the large groups of unorganized , people who shoot up signs , destroy public property , cause forest fires and dirty OUR land)
my mother in law worked for the forest service for many years , i should ask her opinon on this . shes an avide hunter and fisher and uses public and private lands for both. i may send her a link to have her read it all . \

maybe she can give us some insight as to why things happened the way they did .

For those that are just reading this thread now, Rob and I went to an open planning meeting at the district Ranger's station back on the 5th. My recounting of the meeting is a bit winded, but there are pieces of it that may help to explain a bit of how these people work - or "don't work" as it may be:

Also, there's a good thread running over in Off-Topic about this email. It might make sense to coordinate the discussion effort into one spot:
