I apologize if this has been asked or it’s in wrong spot. Currently rebuilding 5VZFE and installing Pistons. I have two questions: I am mainly interested in the first.;

1. Which way do the oil holes in Piston Rods face towards center or outside or something else. I know the dot faces forward. Unfortunately, my labels got removed which piston went with which cylinder after sending to machine shop.

2. How to tell which piston goes with which cylinder. The marks I have seen on the Block (1 or 2) in videos are not on my engine block. Not sure if were never there or were machined off. I have 2s and 1s on Pistons (plus As and Bs, not sure what they mean).
