a search should provide a lot more info than any of us could pack into a single responsive post.

I wanted a mud tire that is good in snow, ice, rain, and obviously mud. You have to understand of course that no mud tire is going to be better in the snow than an all terrain since that is the nature of the tread design. That being said, after some research I decided that my next tire will be a Trxus M/T. The tread design is somewhat closed but the lugs on the outside are offset for better mud and rock performance. They are siped so they will be better in hard packed snow, ice, and rain. Also hey have a thick sidewall that is equal to a 6 ply I believe and I have read that they aren't as loud as a lot f mud tires on the highway. So check them out.

Mudders aren't really winter tires. The rubber compound isn't made for very cold climates.(it freezes up and gets too hard)

Out your way (Vancouver) you could probably get away with mudders (its not that cold) so ice is probably at the bottom of your list.

But if you want to try a great winter tire (and switch over to a mudder in the spring) nothing even comes close to Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10LT. This is one awsome winter tire (and you can stud'em)

I have Firestone destination MT's for spring summer and fall..and switch to my nokia's in the winter. (but i'm in montreal, where its much colder)

I have MTR's and love them. Great look, great traction, great strenght. I like them cause they have the look of mudders and more traction than I'll ever really need and they are almost slient on the road. I hardly notice a difference from the bald BFG A/T's I was running before.

I ran thr Trxus M/T's for a winter and they are awesome. Probably one of the best winter mud tires avaliable.

I have a set of 4 trxus MTs at my store I can give you a hell of a deal on if you want. Give me a call, Paul, 216-267-6668 between 9 - 6 eastern time. Make sure you ask for me.

I have had my Trxus M/T's for almost 2 years now...they are a great-looking tire that works really well off-road. My only complaint is that the road noise is starting to get louder and those bloody things can not be balanced !!!

However, I am glad to hear that they are great in the snow as I am probably going to try running them through the winter this year. I have Michelin Arctic (Pilot) Alpins for the winter but they are really horrible off-road. Hopefully, the Trxus will be half-decent on icy roads.
