Write-up on swapping 01+ tail lights for 96-00?

I searched and found a thread that had a link to a write-up, but the link was dead. I purchased a set of 2001 tail lights that I'd like to install on my 98 4runner. Just want to taking it apart and finding out I need another part! Thanks for the help.

ya need the lights, the wiring harnesses, and possibly new bulbs, the wiring harnesses are about a foot long, and plug right in to stock wiring

I now found a way to get the newer lights, oem aftermarket and they look great. They comes with everything and for install all you need to so is cut and splice the reverve bulb in, everything else will work 100% with this setup.

If you have a 96-98, more info/write-up

If you have a 99-00, more info/write-up

The Taco tail lights will not fit a 4runner if that's what you're asking.

Sure. It's plug and play for Tacos. You don't even have to change wiring harnesses like you do in the 4runners. The only thing you will need is new outer screws for each side. The stock ones aren't long enough.
