Wolf Cargo Cover Update

Does anyone have an update on those Wolf Cargo Covers for the first generation 4Runners? I would sure like to get ahold of one.

Also, I read somewhere about someone taking a Bikini top for a YJ Jeep and modifying it for the 4Runner. Anyone have any knowledge of this..or any other type of Bikini top that will work? Can't remember where I found it at!

Thanks,

AkBillyBow

Welcome to the forums Ak.
Maybe Mack will see this post since he has the Wolf cover.

For a few other ideas, here are a few links.

Kayline use to make nice bikini tops, and now this outfit took over for them.

Here is one on the POR board for making a bikini shorty top.

Another one on POR that is made out of metal.

Roger Brown has some info here from his site.

Of course the ultimate way, and about $1K, is the Can-Back top.

Thanks for the help Corey...and for the warm welcome!! I went to one of those sites and printed out the directions with part numbers for the Bikini top. Thanks a lot!!

I suppose I could try to have the cargo cover made, but it sounds so much easier to mail order it!!

It looks as if Wolf no longer makes the cover but I am busy improving the design of the one I have and when it is done I will put up a page that shows how to make your own. Originally I was going to make a bunch of these but I have discovered that I really don't have enough time and with shipping and so forth I cannot produce them at a price that others might pay.

Same here

Spent lots of time looking for this myself, so far Mack is the only one I know of who has one, and there appear to be none available for purchase. Was very close to making a one-off myself but the weather got cold and rainy, couldn't leave the hard top off any longer. Maybe next spring...

In the meantime, maybe we could save lots of trouble if we all emailed Saddleman and regsiter a potentially large number of requests for this product to be reinitiated. Also, Downey off road has been making the bikini tops, so far the only 1st gen half soft top specifically for the 1st gens, maybe they could be persuaded to make the cargo cover...

Lead for pro man.

Hey all, found this

http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Images/9/Image4.jpg

the finally professionally manufactured bikini top at downey. Anybody have an email to contact them about making the cargo cover? I can't find any links on http://www.downeyoff-road.com/ of any kind and don't wanna make a long diastance call...

I'd buy both of these, especially if sold as a matching set, though I think I would prefer a flat black...

What do you think?

Good find dajabr...that is exactly what I was looking for!! Do they sell that top??? I couldn't get much out of their web site. I guess you need to buy their catalog as none of their parts are linked.

I guess I'll have to phone them and see if they are carrying it.

Downey

Yeah, apparently downey is not equipped to service customers except via the catalog. Sucks too cuz I know a lot of posts have been made on these friggin bikini tops or the cargo cover, and a lotta guys gave up and made their own, when I'm sure they would have preferred to buy a professionally manufactured one.

Perhaps they are concerned on the income loss from the catalog purchases, but I think they have a lot more to gain from fully enabling their web presence and services. Then they could simply not bother trying to recoup printing costs...
NWOR works the same way, I hate it cuz it's so slow compared to internet, and you can't get any more info than what's on the paper. They even have to have a separate price sheet, drives me nuts, feel like you have to commit to the purchase before they'll even tell you how much it costs...

I would definately be more enthusiatic about this Wolf Cargo cover search, if I felt there was some way to get through to Downey or anyone else. If anybody finds this out, tell them to come look at this post, or maybe we could all send email indicating our iterest...

Power to the People!! (or something)

I just phoned Downey and they do stock the bikini tops in the pics. They are still $138 , which I read somewhere in an earlier post. I will have to order one when the next paycheck comes in!

Thanks for all the leads gang!!
