I drive mine the same as yours. Stick in 4hi position and 4wd button NOT pressed in. In other words, Im in 2wd all the time.

2WD most of the time. For slick roads, mud & snow I will go 4Hi.

There are no "limits" to the speed you can drive in each. Nothing electronic to keep you from traveling over a certain speed because you are in 4wd.

But really, how fast do you need to go in 4wd? You wouldn't drive 80mph in the snow would you? If you were in a situation that required 4-lo, then you are automatically traveling pretty slow. Conditions that require 4wd, require slower speeds. Remember that 4wd does not make you invincible.

IIRC, the manual states that top speed in 4Lo is 39MPH. The top speed for 4Hi is 109MPH, same as 2Hi.

I don't know about you guys, but my truck doesn't have a push button to engage/disengage 4WD. I have to move a second stick shift.

You guys and your Automatics... wussies!

yea doc Z, 'im an automatic wuss...hehhe...the only time i want a stick is in my sports car, other wise i find it a hassle to drive stick in everyday driving.........but i read over the intake silencer mod for the 96-98s and i was a bit confused on the steps to take...maybe it's just me, but i think you should put up ONE way to do it (obviosly the best way) then at the end of the write up, put up other ways!! the jumping around in the current article is just confusing!!!!

Yeach I was also a little confused on the write up if you do have some time to write a modified one that would be nice, but one way or another it's all good, I'll figure it out someway.

I noticed the other day that if i have it in 4lo then it makes no difference if the button is in or not it is always in 4wdto get it out of 4wd i had to put it back in to 4hi.
