Wiring trailer lights???

My 2000 4Runner did not come with the towing package. However, I installed a hitch, now I need to hook up some wires. Can someone tell me where to find the wiring harness? Thanks,
Andy

You should be able to find the wiring harness a trailer store, auto parts store, toyota dealership, camping world.

You should get some instructions with your purchase, but essentially you will be connecting to the wires behind your tail lights. You will have to move the sides of the back of the cargo area to access the tail lights. There is also a plastic piece you will have to cut underneath the weather stripping.

Pretty straight forward

Hey guys. I installed my trailer wiring and for the life of me I can't figure out how to run the wire to the outside of the car. I've just been running it out the back and shutting the backdoor over it. Can someone show me where to run the wire from inside to outside?

Red face

I just drilled a hole in the floor put a gromet in and sealed it up with blue silicone .

I also made up my own harness using plugs for the left tail light harness then just running a wire from the right turn signal to the plug harness.

I also used the 7 wire trailer cable as I needed the extra wires for the electric brakes

Like ^^^. I used a six wire plug since it had a sealing flip lid and is better than having a four wire plug dangling beneath your bumper. Six to four wire adapters are easy to find.
