A wiring question
Alright, so I am all lined up to get these reverse indiglo gauges from this guy. Now all I need is the $$...lol. Anyways, I want to fully research this before I dive head first into this. My question is this: I want to wire the new gauges so they come on like the stock ones (when you turn on the head lights or parking lights, by turning that knob). Anyways, is there a way I can do this. I kinda thought about this alittle and thought there might be a fuse that runs them. Then I looked and there is a fuse that is labeled gauges. Is this the one? Anyone know? Like I said, I want them to turn on just like stock gauges and I think this might work, if I just tap into that fuse, if it is the same fuse? If not, is there any other way that I can do this? I am hoping someone here knows and can help. Thank you so much! :fireman:

Hey Ryan. Any light you want on (faces, gauges) with your stock switch is an EZ hookup. I used my wire from my front side marker. Pop off the marker (these are 'park' lights) and splice into the wire (I believe mine was green). One wire will be a ground, so do a test first. (I use short 'jumper' wires with alligator clips.) Connect your ground wire (good one behind driver side kick panel) and test. You'll need a long wire going through the firewall up to the front marker. Best and easiest way to hook up. Now save up your bones and get them faces!

Ryan you don't want to tap into the fuse labeled gauges. That fuse physically powers the tach, speedo, and all the warning lights in the gauge cluster. The easiest thing to do is find one of the wires that turns anything on with the park lights. I spliced into the wire that runs the small green light in the ashtray if you take out the two screws in the "roof" of the ashtray it drops out and exposes everthing. Some other options are the cigarette lighter light and the jockey box light. There's lot's of stuff that comes on with the park lights. Just be careful though because when were prodding around with the light tester we found a few wires that were hot only with the park lights or only with the headlights. Would suck to wire them in and find out they went off when you went from park lights on to headlights on..hehe
Good luck with the install it's not hard man just go for it!

Well, I do have some good news. I sat down and figured out that I did have enough money and I bid on the gauges. I won the bid and am currently waiting for a return from the seller, so I can send a payment. I can't wait.
I will have to take a look around there and see what I can do as far as wiring up. Thanks for the help Brian. I may have to ask you a ? or two when the time gets closer. Thanks again.
UKMyers, I do have a few questions for you. First, I saw on my gauges that there is no hole on the speedo gauge for the little post that the needle rests on, just like yours. First, what did you use to drill that hole? Secondly, what size bit did you use? Thirdly, did you drill from the back or the front? Fourthly, how did you know where to drill? Did you measure, hold it up, or what did you do? And last, if I do drill, will they still work, I mean yours did, do you think these will. They are just the same as a reg. indiglo gauge. Thanks so much dude! I appreciate the help.

Ryan as far as lining them up just lay the tach gauge right on top of the the speedo and mark the hole. To drill it I actually used a really sharp exacto knife with a tapered blade because you can go very slowly and make the hole exactly the right size. I went through from the front side because I wanted the hole on top to be clean and free from burrs and stuff. I had a 12 volt battery sitting around here at the house so I tested the gauges after drilling and no probs. I am sure you won't have any either.
